Sony MDR V-6 vs Audio Technica ATH-M50

I wanted to purchase headphones and I narrowed down on either the Sony MDR V-6 or Audio Technica ATH-M50. I mostly listen to post-, symphonic-, math-, and alternative-metal (and also psychedelic rock). I would like something with good frequency response and sound stage and also good sound reproduction.

What would be a better buy. Any other suggestions are welcome that would suit these genres. Oh, most importantly I would need closed headphones.

My budget is upto 8k.

Math-metal is kinda like math-rock with complex time signatures, something like Meshuggah, After the Burial, HORSE the Band.

Ok, So I finally went for the M-audio Studiophile Q40. Excellent cans, good bass. Been 3 months now and I love them to death.

Try a AT-M50. See if you find a difference and let us know which is better if possible.

ATH-M50 is excellent for complex time signatures.
