Laptops Sony Vaio owners - how is the support?

Hey guys,

I am thinking of going for a new laptop and it would be Sony Vaio E series or Dell Studio 15. One thing that I wanted to know is support. How good is Sony India's support structure and is there any way we can extend the warranty after 1yr?
 
well, i for one can confirm extended warranty is available usually for all models. me had got a nw23 series laptop for which the 2 year extra extended warranty cost 5k. (total 1 +2 years warranty)

the sticker should be there on the box itself saying extend your warranty for 5k. this is a older model and the offer was there about two months back. need to check again now
 
^^yes for dad's 4 year old vaio which had issues with the pcmcia card slot which was not working -- was returned after three days with the new part and the laptop was given a nice cleaning too!

always opt for extended warranty offered by sony.

Im also a proud VAIO owner... i buyed VAIO n LCD started giving pbl to me and i took it to service center they looked at it and without asking any question they just told me to come back after 1 week and get my LCD replace... After sales is awesome and cannot be compared with any other brand...

well, overall the build is pretty solid. an touch wood, i never had to visit the service center, so no feedback.

only concern which i would like to raise is the touchpad hardware/drivers.

they suck. bigtime.

if i install the driver they provide, on win 7, it doesn't respond at times. and if i don't then horizontal and vertical scrolling doesn't work. and this is a widely reported problem with sony laptops in general. i prefer that i use a external bluetooth mouse to this so doesnt affect me much, but might be a huge issue to many.

What about the extended warranty?

DO i need to buy it right at the time i get the laptop?

Or can i buy it anytime within a year of the purchase?

as long as you buy it before your original warranty expires, it is good to go
 
Guyz croma is offering me with 2 yrs extended warranty for 2k so is that a good deal or should i directly buy the deal from sony ??
 
Double check with croma if they are providing extended warranty from Sony India! They tried to sell me extended warranty for my LG microwave, later I found out that the extended warranty was from some third party..
