Sony is all set to launch the Xperia Z3, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India on September 19th. It was unveiled at the IFA 2014 earlier this month and is currently on pre-order across several countries worldwide. Even though the display and the camera are similar to the Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z3 has a more brighter screen, powered by a slightly faster Snapdragon 801 SoC and runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) out of the box.
Sony launched the Xperia Z2, the company’s current flagship in India back in May. So, the next flagship comes to India in just four months after the Z2 launch. The Xperia Z1 was launched in India last September. Both were priced over Rs. 40,000 at the launch. It is not clear how much the Z2 would cost. Companies like LG and HTC and have already launched their flagship smartphones, but Samsung would launch the Galaxy Note 4 in India soon. Even Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 6 in India later this year.
It is not clear if Sony plans to launch the Xperia Z3 Compact and the Z3 Tablet Compact at the event next week. The Xperia Z3 also comes in a dual SIM variant, so it would be interesting to see if India will get the Xperia Z3 Dual. Check out the Xperia Z3 hands on from IFA.
