no . service center manager said many Xperia Zs are having waterproofing issues.. and if u search "my xperia is not waterproof" , there are many threads already .. and Sony should at least respond and help but instead they wont even honor warranty if the indicators show sings of water ingress..

even if its issue with this unit, the waterproof thing makes less sense as you need to dry phone for 2-3 hours or even more and water gets up to the red rubber near battery compartment and the speakers / ear-piece doesnt work until completely dry.

So much for the waterproofing and the IP rating of the device! Sony should have ensured that they thoroughly test the unit before dishing out these ratings and marketing tactics.
 
The problem is maintaing the integrity of the seals over time. if you open the charging one its going to lose its water sealing ability after a while. You have to get wireless charging or whatever sony offers to keep from opening those seals.
 
yeah i have already started noticing that the usb flap is becoming loose, even if initially the phone works fine, i doubt it will remain after few months or a year of use with regular closing and opening of ports.
 
And if the ports fail to lock out the water, you are responsible. Waterproof sounds more & more like marketing than actual.

You mean to tell me its only waterproof for the first few months and not after.

I guess the idea is to make it more waterproof than 99.9% of phones out there and nothing more. Getting caught in a downpour and it will survive but not swimming with it.

How hot did the phone get whilst gaming. Uncomfortable hot or not. I'm guessing not as much as the more compact glass backed ones would.

it doesnt get much hot, comfortable to hold .. yeah the worst part is no warranty if water gets inside for ANY reason, even when its defective.
