One question, with these water proof (or resistant ?) phones coming in, sony can now not reject servicing these phones for reason of water damage right ?

I doubt it, though you never know. What if it was dropped in the sea, flaps open. I'm sure saline water has a different effect.

Why will the phone reach near a bucket of water in the bathroom? Is your bathroom like that other guys oversized one with TV??

That's not really a question relevant here. We all know water damage is one of the most common reasons cited by service centers to avoid repairing the handset and / or charge exorbitantly. Even rain can cause the phone to get wet right ? Now don't say why would one take the phone in rain.
I am listing possibilities.
Also by your logic the phone should never get water near to it right ? This probably happens in an ideal world but not in this world.

From the official sony spec page:

In compliance with IP55 and IP58, Xperiaâ„¢ ZR is protected against the ingress of dust and is waterproof. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP 55; and/or (ii) can be kept under 1.50 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 58.

Well Raks, you need to ask Sony about this. It's a very interesting point.

If the flaps (port covers, etc..) are closed then there should be no water damage. If they are open then there will be water damage. Going to be a case about us vs them. Is there a sensor in the phone that says th phone has been under water for more than 30 mins? Or did it drop below 2 metres and wasn't at say 1 metre.
