Hi guys

I have assembled a new system. I have a P5B Deluxe and X-530 speakers. The P5B Deluxe has Soundmax AD1988B onboard audio. Now, it's decent, but I would like to improve the sound quality. My main uses are watching 720p movies and gaming. Is there a sound card within 2k, that can improve the sound quality?

Thanks

For 2k, you have no other choice than SoundBlaster. better save your money for an X-FI.

In my exp. E-MU cards are better than M-Audio which are again better than Creative.

But X-FI is the best choice, if you are a Gamer.

Within 2k, I guess your only option is the SB Live! 24-bit. Should be around ~1.5k and a decent upgrade over onboard audio.

@ibmmainframes, If I could buy a X-FI, I wouldn't have asked, I know its awesome :D But I already spend 65k on my pc, so really, I cant spend more than 2k on my sound card.

I have been thinking of Sound Blaster Live or Audigy Value, I am not sure which one to go with. Whichever one I buy, I just want to upgrade the sound quality over the onboard audio.

^ I've been using the Live 24-bit 7.1 for a year now and if your only needs are audio get his w/o doubt.

SQ through foobar (SSRC Resampler) + ASIO, is great !

^ Yeah, cause the Audigy uses the same audio DAC. Live is basically Audigy w/o the EAX part.

@ hitman - What I meant is unless you want hardware EAX accelelration, get the Live ;)
