If I connect the audio out on my notebook directly to the inputs of a stage mixer and play audio, would it damage the circuitry ?

If yes, then any cheap workaround ;) ?

i dont think it will damage anything. just make sure verything is grounded :bleh: nice question BTW. Laptop generally hav bad output so i recommend taking ur home 24-bit soundcard with ur pc for stage show ;) is my advice
 
Dont think any circuits will get damaged. But not sure.

U need to get a USB sound card on loan then... :S
 
u cant connect pci soundcard to ur lappy. i was just telling u to get home pc to stage show ;) anyways. get usb soundcard which will work nice

No, It won't (Normally)..

however if you are using a heavy duty stage mixer and are not too sure about the quality of the device, I suggest you use a USB sound card

If there is an internal leakage in the mixer (rare though) which gets fed to the line out on your lappy, that'll fry at least the op-amps on the sound out line on the motherboard...

Unfortunately, there are no cheap work-arounds other than buying a USB sound card (which are not too expensive anyway)

+ even a fairly cheap USB snd card (deidcated) will give you the benefit of better sound quality than the normally crappy soundstage on your internal board

El cheapo USB soundcard avialable at Computer warehouse here, 500 bucks. No info abt brand or anything tho, this is all they've written, lol

I have a women freind who's name is DJ Kary, delhites may have heard of her she is pretty renowned. whatever discussion we are doing here abt sound out I had her do all this from past 4 years. when i first bought her a tecra laptop she used to use for all kinds of sound out. but then as she gradually went professional, I bought her a tascam US122 USB sound device which she uses to record live shows & also now sound out from it when needed as it is full ASIO.

To conclude, there is no issue at all with sound out etc. The only small prob one can face is if the studio equipment is not grounded properly & has a current leakage. for that u can buy a small surge supresser to pass the signal from. U can buy these filters from APC site. but there is absolutely no need to freak abt it. Studio equipments to what I have seen till date always use very good quality power inputs from Servos, CVTs etc that feed the already very sensitive sound equipment. This mean complete peace of mind in itself.

Will be doing a pre-party test anyways, any idea what cable she was using from the laptop to the mixer ?

I mean RCA out or XLR or Stereo pin ?
