Spam and inaction on Jio

For past couple of months I am being spammed by Pokerbaazi on my Jio number. And in spite of raising multiple spam complaints they always tell that the operator found - No marketing activity. When DND had started I was spammed continuously by a company and they had to pay a huge price for it. Now it looks like operators have found ways around it and making the law toothless by claiming no marketing activity is there even though there is clearly one.

One has to opt between peace of mind or privacy. I just use truecaller (even though aware its not good for privacy) just to spare myself from spam.

I use truecaller for the same reason. But i TRULY hate that piece or crap. Every time they send a notification saying that someone has viewed my profile and show a blurred picture of some girl. What a sleazy way of getting people to upgrade to their premium service.


And insulting too. Is this what they think of all Indians?

I didnt see it anytime but i have blocked all notifications from true caller. So that might be the reason. Also that app is also POS showing caller id for disconnected call several times with popup boxes but what option do we have?

I am also desperately on the lookout for truecaller alternative.

Well you can easily hide your profile from such prying eyes. There are lots of tweaks within the settings itself.

Well DND has gone shiity ways since past few yrs. For eg: even if you have opted for Full DND and if someone gives your no to some retailer, property agents, banks etc. then goodbye to the Dnd as it wont work in such cases...

Trust me I have tried over 30 popular and other apps none of them are worthy and always behind your wallet for upgrading to pro for even basic blocking features so its all money game and nothing useful.

Why not directly contact that girls and ask why she is so interested in you..

Lol. First of all, you can't directly contact coz you dont know who it is. They just show a picture. No number. If you want to see the number of the person who has checked your truecaller profile then you have to buy premium.
Secondly, its not actually some girl checking the profile. Anytime ANYBODY(doesnt matter if its a boy/girl/grandpa/martian) checks your profile, truecaller falsely shows a blurred out picture of any random girl in hopes that you will buy premium trying to find out who it is

Ohh. I always thought blocking the notifications will also disable the caller id coz the names are always shown on top during a call. Guess there's no harm in doing it then

if you're using an Android phone then try the Google phone dialer, it has inbuilt spam alert like truecaller and you can blanket or selectively block spam numbers. if you can't find it on the Play Store then download from apkmirror https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/

for texts I use MS SMS organizer. it's auto sorting algorithm is really good and puts all spam and promotional messages in one category.

Google phone dialer

With Android 10, I got the recording feature back (I'm using Mi A3) and just like @m0h1t said - Google Phone Dialer and MS SMS Organizer does the terrific job being a freeware

On a side note, Google Phone dialer uses Google's tools (such Google My Business and other information acquired through search tools) to show the caller information which for most of the cases (especially with Marketing calls) fails but picks it up for other users once anyone flags it as spam.

The blanket ban seems to be awesome but it also affects the calls from Banks' toll-free or even with Telecom companies number (since most of these numbers fall under spam)

Google phone dialer is not at all effective compared to Truecaller and offers just 50% of features of Truecaller. Its spam engine is mostly of US so it wont block Indian spam unless reported by most of the users.

my experience with Google dialer has been very good in regards to spam blocking, but yes truecaller probably has a better database and a large user base to continuously steal contact info from.

Just go to the pg portal, and lodge a compliant directly to ministry of IT regarding spam.. Do mentioned that you have raised several DND requests to jio and if possible mention the service request numbers as well.

This will set the wheel in motion and rest assured it will be dealt with and from then onwards jio would honor all your requests.

Just go to the pg portal, and lodge a compliant directly to ministry of IT regarding spam.. Do mentioned that you have raised several DND requests to jio and if possible mention the service request numbers as well.

This will set the wheel in motion and rest assured it will be dealt with and from then onwards jio would honor all your requests.
