Spam calls severely affecting mental health

I have been experiencing this for a long time. Every morning there would be a call waking me up, yes Bank, hdfc and whatnot, calling for CC. How can i be relieved from these? Today i have fever and tried to take a nap in the afternoon, and bam, some yes bank calls me. Can't use DND as that will block all other calls. I added a series of numbers in Truecaller block list, but these calls are new. Mine is a jio prepaid no. Today i had to create this topic after tolerating this nuisance for long time. Please suggest if anything can be done.

Not entirely true, if its a business number they might not be able to call you, but nowadays they will either email or Whatsapp if they want to reach you.

I have DND enabled, and the only had issue when requesting a callback from HPZ (I wanted to inquire about some cable availability) but they let me know the same via email.

I don't have any issue getting a callback from Amazon, for example.

Quoting my own post:

Unless TRAI makes spamming impossible, you're SOL for the simple fact that every time a number is blocked, they will go get a new number. Even if you crowd source and update the list every few hours, a lot of calls can be made in that small period, and spamming is still profitable for them.
your FOMO on calls is exactly what spammers rely on. Every call is either spam/not spam.
Since there is no perfect solution that works in every situation, you either end up missing a few legit calls, or answering a few spam calls.
The choice is up to you. Unless you get a personal assitant to answer your calls, you will never be 100% rid of spam.

Buy a TC subscription which helps a lot in curbing spam or just just enable only phonebook to bother you and you are set.

Even if TRAI comes up with something, its s govt. thing and might require lots of trials with ifs-buts to actually work it foolproofly.

As long as there is a record of you sending spam, you can be blacklisted from acquiring new SIMs to bypass your blocklist. That in itself is enough to hinder such cold callers. This is the root of the problem

Seconding this. DND works wonderfully for me. Only a-hole companies like Lodha call nowadays and I end up blocking that number.

Take the call (if you think some one your friend/dear one/near one may have new number or trying to call in emergency from others number), after knowing it's not useful to you, don't talk and cut the call and Block each & every number.

No need to think to deep about, after all it is their job or may be they get paid if call last more than 3 minutes etc. etc., once you keep talking then they will sell your number to other to try & other will force you to buy.

Just try to understand their situation but not to carry too much and block each & every spam etc. numbers, within a week/two weel number of calls per day will reduce automatically

I'm not sure whether your phone's dnd works differently. If i activate dnd, all calls go silent. I think the screen doesn't even turn on either, except for those contacts which I've added to exception list. Just noticed that the notifications(in-app, email SMS etc) are being paused by dnd as well.

I believe you are talking about the phone's DND feature, while others are suggesting activating TRAI's DND feature. Check this: https://ndnc.net/

Even your phone's DND can be customized. I have mine customized to allow calls from favorite contacts to always go through when DND is activated. For other contacts and calls from numbers not in the contact list, I have customized it so that if the same number calls more than twice within a 5 minute window, the call goes through. If it is only once, it will be silenced. You should check the DND settings.

And I occasionally get their spam smses from senders Loudha/ Mlodha/ Blodha or similar as if for the houses they are offering, they are giving (L/M/B sized di*ks free) .
Wondering if their marketing/spamming team also makes fun of the brand!
TRAIs own DND also now struggles. My no. is on full/strict dnd yet I receive 50% spam as common as the person who isn't listed on TRais dnd at all.

I was getting a lot of marketing calls in between. I went on reporting calls using the Airtel app and DND reporting page for SPAM and marketing continuously for 6 months.

I have already activated DND long back. Now get only 1 per week at maximum. :D

What you said is for individuals and no single person spams but its a company a group who are paid to spam who obtain as many sims as required just for such spamming purpose.

I sleep with the phone off. I don't pick up unknown numbers unless I am expecting it. If someone calls in an emergency/the world burns because I don't pickup an unknown number, I am more than happy with it.

Oh my. Now i feel embarrassed. Didn't realise he was talking about that dnd. Anyway, that was the first thing i did after sim card activation which was like a lifetime ago, that's why i forgot about it. I even did the Jio in-app config to further ensure my dnd was activated.

Regarding the phone dnd thanks for the suggestion. Yes I'll configure the same and maybe it'll be beneficial.

The best thing to do thanks for the confidence. That's what i used to do btw but recent unfortunate circumstances have forced me to keep my phone on. But to hell with it really.
