Hi guys,
My friend is going to buy new speakers,i.e Philips Home theater system 2000.
Plz tell me is this speaker good for music & gaming experience.

I think logitech x530 is also a goos buy.

btw his budget is around 6k & he is getting Philips HTS 2000 at some special scheme for 6k.

For 6k, you'll only get 5.1 speakers that sound like tin cans in music. For movies/games they'd do okay though.

What's good for around (5.1 and above only.. not really particular about 6.1 and 7.1)

10k?
20k?
30k?
and lastly 40k?

Hm... 10k = Logitech z5300

20k = Logitech Z5500

30k = Creative Gigaworks

40k = Sonodyne Cinque package

50-55k = Wharfedale moviestar 70+, Denon AVR 486/Marantz SR4600.

More options available on request :P. For music there are much better options in 50k though.

Chaos... I knew u'd show up sooner than later when it comes to audio.

Thanks... I was at E-Zone today... They were showin me stuff from Polk Audio, Denon, Jamo, Onkyo... pretty good... but somehow... I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. They ran me through a gamut of offers:

Onkyo 6.1 Amp + 6.1 Speaker set (no Tower Speakers.... all satellites) - 40k
Jamo 5.1 speaker system (The fronts are Tower Speakers) + Yahama Amp - 45k

I can hear the sarcasm already :P.... I'm dense when it comes to Audio... prolly as dense as the wood they use for the speakers... so enlighten me if you will ;)

Lemme make it simple... I'm lookin for terrific bass, good quality speakers that can handle maddening levels of sound... while at the same time being able to reproduce quality sound... and all that for under 50k :P

Oh and it has to include the Amp as well... :D

^^Probably you heard the wrong models... Jamo models under E8 series are all mediocre. The E8,D4,D5,D8 series speakers rock. Stay away from low end polks and onkyo too... For low end nothing beats sonodyne or wharfedale... check them out. There are a few other decent indian brands too. I'm not sure about them though.

^^Not very special... I bought the S408(bigger brother of 406) which sounded quite good at the shop... got it home and bass was loose now its in the box... In future it'll be relegated to rear channel duties once i get a surround processor :P.
