Speed Throttling in BSNL Night UL plans !!

Guys..for last couple of days I am facing a strange issue !
I am on Home 500c plan that offers night unlimited facility. I used to get full 2mbps during my night downloads !!

Bit for last 4-5days i am facing some kind of throttling !

The speed comes down to about 50-60kbps (download) during the night UL period !!! No matter whicjh server I choose its the max I get !!!

But just about 8AM in the morning the speed comes back to full 2MBPS ...the same server that was giving 50-60kbps speed starts giving 220-240kbps speed !!

I am afraid that BSNL is limiting the speed to about 512 KBPS during night download !!! Anybody facing the same issue ? Or this is just an exception ??

To test you guys can start some kind of Microsoft download....MS servers always gives great speed !!

Is it an upto 2mbps or dedicated 2 mbps plan. Please check. If its upto then it all depends on the available bw. They do not promise you that you will get 2mbps all the time.

I know that !!! But if it happens regularly and shows a definite pattern then something must be wrong !!!

I generally get over 200kbps all the time..even during peak hours !!! But this speed capping is happening only in the night unlimited time...the speed drops around 1.55am and comes back to 2mbps level at around 8 am ..... Its too much calculated to be an isolated matter !!!

definitely in some days , bsnl is throttling night download speed. I am on H500 plan from 3.5 years. and also almost exclusively on Debian GNU/Linux.

I'm in the same plan for 4 years now dude,
i remember back then there was a limit of 1gb and no night unlimited on this plan
but reverting back, i alsousually never get speeds in excess of 50-55 kB/ps in the night time until i am lucky, or the torrent is heavyly seeded, like say 50 seeds and 10 leechers or so, still i get 100 kB/ps speeds, even that if im extremely lucky. Except for one night when i got speeds in excess of 1 mB/ps, my time with bsnl is just passing through, and all i can say is that I'm unhappy with the serrvice currently provided

As far I know, BSNL Connections have problem since few days, even same thing is happening to me.. I am getting over 1000 latency in Team Fortress 2 game.. That sucks for playing [Kill after 5 seconds of firing :bleh:]

Yes there definitely seems to be some speed throttling. I've managed to download+upload 2GB during the night unlimited time earlier, but nowadays the max I get is around 800MB :-(. "Broadband" is still a dream in India..

yeah its true dude...i had'nt noticed it till today..while downloading the overclocker magazine which is just 91MB. I started the download at 6am today and the speed was very slow. It was between 10KB/s and 15KB/s. At 7:58am I just finshed 71%. After that time the speed slowly increased to 40KB/s and when it was 8:01am the speed reached 230KB/s constant till the download completed....

Am surprised with horrible lower speeds you all are getting.Never had any speed problem from BSNL Data one.All ways more then 2MB 24 Hours does not matter day or night.

Anyone know, how to contact Dataone Officers online?? If someone know their email ID, please post it here.. We can send same content email to them :D

me too...untill I downloaded the overclocker magazine pdf..
you too try downloading it during the free hours.....most of those who tried it have agreed that they were getting very low speeds and even thought it was due to the server where the file was hosted...

Not so for me at least. I have the home 500C plan and I download close to 4GB of data pretty much everyday. I use both P2P and direct transfers and the speeds are consistently around 220KBPS . It appears that they may be throttling at some places but it is definitely not so everywhere.

i didnt read thru the whole thread but could it just be that BSNL's lines are choking because every one of you toms, dicks and harrys are downloading during NU period and they are not throttling it intentionally? :D

The Plan Says 256 to 2Mbps Speeds ..... :)

Here how they do it...They put you in a pool of 2Mbps with... 8 users so when all eight are online..and downloading simultaneously... (Mind you extremely unlikely):S you will get a guaranteed speed of 256Kbps....:ohyeah: But now if You are only one on the pool that downloads using full bandwidth usually night ....believe or not people do have life and downloading is just not everything... they usually browse or chat... you will get your 2Mbps... but if some other user decides he will use the bandwith to full you will be capped to 1/2 and if 4 such users decide to download stuff all night then you will get what you are getting right now.... :cool2:

to confirm this just check modem status in your router by logging onto it and check the upstream and downstream it will be showing you 2045 or something this shows that you are connected at 2Mbps but whatever you will get depends upon the load in your pool....

The easy way out....:) is go and keep on complaining about your speeds and stuff until they change your port and cross your fingers that the new pool guys do not use torrents at night or are NU Plan Subscribers...;)
