Spice's 5 inch Android phone, Stellar Horizon launched for Rs. 12,499




The Spice Stellar Horizon has finally been launched here in India. It is currently available at the online retailer Saholic (Spice Stellar Horizon Price in India | Mi-500 Specifications, Features and Reviews). The phone has a 5 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, which makes the ppi relatively low for a modern phone at 186 ppi (The Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S, both have a ppi of over 300). It also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which is now around a year old and not the latest and greatest by google, 4.1 JellyBean.

  • 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor
  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS
  • Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with dual standby
  • 10.5 mm thick and weighs 205 g
  • 5MP auto-focus camera with dual LED flash, 0.3MP front-facing camera
  • 3.5 mm audio jack, FM Radio
  • 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory (2.5GB user memory), expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD
  • 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS / aGPS
  • 2400 mAh battery

The phone was supposed to launch in late June with the Snapdragon s4 processor, but was delayed and the CPU was changed. It also weighs in at a hefty 205 grams, which is around 25 grams heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which has half an inch larger screen. The phone is selling at a price of 12,499.

by seeing the spice record of updates I doubt this will get JB, everything same as Micromax A100 except CPU and Battery which costs somewhere near 9.5 and this is 12.5K with only 512MB of RAM and an outdated OS.
 
ICS(over 50% of all android phones still run gingerbread) is not outdated,and what all do you guys expect in 12.5k?this phone fills an important section of the mobile market,i.e for people who want to use their phones for watching videos(and playing games?the Gpu is not specified but i could find that it is from the PowerVR 5 series,so probably something like the Sgx 535 or 540)but don't want to spend upwards of 30k on the Galaxy Notes. 12.5k for a 5 inch phone is awesome ,now one can at least enjoy watching videos without breaking their wallet.(also to everyone saying that 5 inch phones are too big to hold,either you have pygmy hands or are just paranoid because my whole family,my sister,mother and father have been using a Note since launch and the phone is comfortable to hold for them,and my sister has small hands.)
 
But Spice should improve their service , due to pathetic customer care their image is being let down. I have a dead Funbook lying around from 2 months and i have given up hope for getting it serviced . Getting Note 2 in a week .

can you tell me why were you unable to get your funbook serviced?because i am really interested in buying it.
