Hi, I have Dell Mini 12.
It has 4200rpm HDD, i want to upgrade it to a SSD and hence make this system faster.

Kindly help how should i proceed.

I have found out that HDD is 1.8"PATA/ZIF. I do not know anything more than that. :(

Can anybody tell atleast if upgrading with SSD is worth or not ? Expense of roughly 4-5K.

Or I should sell it off.

I love it for its screen size of 12".

All I know is tht SSD's these days come in the 2.5" size........ so it will be difficult to get 1.8" SSD........

Also IMO....... u only buy an SSD when rest of ur h/w is better than the HDD........ i.e. if the HDD is becoming a bottleneck for the system...... only then buy an SSD......

I would recommend not buying an SSD bcoz of the 1.8" size...... since u wont be able to use tht SSD on any other PC or laptop later in the future........

Treat my opinion as just advisory since I dont know anything abt Dell Mini 12.......

Dell Mini 12 has following config

Intel Atom Z530 1.66GHz|512KB Cache

1GB DDR2 533MHz

80GB 4200rpm IDE/ZIF HDD

1.8" IDE/ZIF SSD is available online in US but 32GB is $60+.

Usually the lower sized ssd's do not benefit from higher read and write speeds. Do check reviews before making the purchase.

IDE/ZIF SSD is limited to max capacity of IDE media type i.e.133MB/s

So how much it can impact ?

Also can i expect 10K from selling this ?

No point in buying a 32 GB SSD, you won't even be able to put your OS into it, so basic idea is NO GO.

Be happy with your Dell Mini 12 as is for now, Sire.

Hope this helps.

What do you plan to sell?

I plan to sell 2 and half year old Dell Mini 12.

I guess you might be asking why you want to sell it ?

Reason is need money and slightly its GFX support.
