i'm also a linux starter myself. I've settled for linux mint. Very slick looks and needed least addons / configuration to work.try it.

Most of them will recommend Ubuntu. I would do the same. If some thing goes wrong, there are lot of users to help you out.

uBuntu ftw.. Also don't forget Mandriva, our Linux master Dark Star always telling me to start with Mandriva.. Let's hope, Darky will reply here also...

but I would prefer uBuntu and Mandriva.. :D

What you will learn from Mint ? It has everything out of the box..No codec installation no repo setup so whats the use ?

ubuntu is nice to learn and get started...people say even mandriva is nice :)

OT : Darky mate do games run properly in linux ?? :ashamed:

^^ I don't like playing games though, haven't any windows apps , I dont use Wine so can't tell. .But it will work fine there will be lower performance than windows :P

Why don't you use Linux by yourself than try it :P Asking won't do wonders until and unless you try by yourself :P

ਭਾਜੀ Ubuntu ਨਵਿਅਾਂ ਲੲੀ ਵਧੀਅਾ ਹੈ। ਪੂਰਾ ਫਨ ਹੈ।

ubuntu++;

Ubuntu...Mandriva has more drivers it supports my Via VGA out of the box where as I am struggling to find the correct drivers for Ubuntu....But I find ubuntu to be more of a pleasure to use..
