strange problem with inverter, it connects even with main line on.

I think power distribution variance and jitter by utility providers is common insider knowledge.
Old times, people didn't bother much because on the average a cheap incandescent lamp may conk off bit early, or at the max a fan or music systems of some rich guys who won't bother much.
Nowadays, average houses in cities and suburbs have valuable electronics, everything is costly, so have to be careful.

Wondering whether online UPS can help in situations like these.

Sorry for bumping this thread.
Still relevant today.
My Exide inverter was acting weird for past few weeks. Early morning it would turn off even when my main line was there.
After reading through, tomorrow I will place a complaint to the local eb.
My nas is getting shutdown abruptly .. Luckily it doesn't do anything at those times.
Sorry for not updating mine.

It was a faulty fan which kept internals hot , so it was tripping .. acting weird. It was resolved.

Kindly check your fans.

I notices since last 15 days my APC 600VA UPS going on battery back-up constantly with tick-tick sound even when main power/electricity supply is on (only PC have UPS Power Back-up, all other lights/Refrigerator etc. are on direct line).

Thats the relays making sound, mostly due to crappy supply from grid high/low voltage, momentary low Hz from the grid.
