Storage Solutions Suggest 2.5" \ 500GB \ 7200RPM HDD

Hi,

I a looking to buy a 2.5" drive, 7200 rpm, with capacity of 500 gb. On searching, I found only one drive that matches my requirements - The Seagate Momentus. Please help me with the following :

1) Do I have any more choices with above specs?
2) I am located in Mumbai. Where can i buy the disk?
3) Approximate idea of the costs?

I too need the same HDD but it isnt available in India imo!
Only 5400rpm models here.

You will have to source one from Newegg via KMD.

7200 rpm laptop HDDs were available with lynx.

but 5400 rpm HDDs are recommended due to heating issues.

so do bear that in mind.

Thank you for your responses everybody. It is sad that the hard disk is still not available in India. As regards it being available with Lynx, is that a person or a firm? How can I contact them?

I am not much worried bout the heat factor, cause I would be using is quite sparingly, only when needing to transfer downloaded stuff from my laptop to this disc and while making a backup from this disc to my other disc at which point the heating might happen, as entire data gets backed up, which is my preference rather than just incremental.

Would be really glad if I could get contact details for Lynx.

i dont know about the new 7200 rpm drives but last i read is that difference in performance between 5k and 7k rpm drives is not much and 5k rpm drives are better for power saving. So dont be hard pressed with 7k rpm drives.
