guys..please recommend me a usb flash drive..
my requirements are:
should be 8gb and have 5 years of warranty...also read and write speed must be atleast 25MB/sec and 10 MB/sec respectively...My budget is below Rs. 1000

^^ I have a 4GB Voyager and write speeds are only ~ 7mb/s . I'd suggest you go for HP / Sandisk Cruzer Blade

+1 for the Corsair Flash Voyager. Just had mine replaced recently without any hassles. It was in a pretty bad state too.

from what i read, it seems that corsair voyager has very sluggish speed. i don't wanna buy sandisk cruzer blade..It got a very bad built quality. Also, hp has only 2 years of warranty

what about verbatim. Guys can any of you post the R/W speeds ??

Review : Verbatim Store'n'Go Retractable USB drive

Now we come to that part of the review where I have my usual moan about the difference between quoted read and write speeds when compared to those I was able to achieve. This Store'n'Go device is no exception. Verbatim has managed to obtain read speeds of 200x (30MB) and write speeds of 80x (12MB). The best I was able to record was 7.9MB/sec for reading data and 4.54MB when carrying out a write operation to the device.

Seems very poor.

Frankly i dont think there is anything to suggest one sided in 8GB drives. Get the one with maximum warranty and best write speeds.

Everyone seems to have different experiences here.

I have a Transcend V30, and I get speeds of 7.5MBps for write and 18MBps for read, using TeraCopy. Faster speeds are gonna cost more than 1K.

guys please update the warranty provided by the manufacturers. i am asking this bcoz some of them are claiming lifetime and giving only 2 years of warranty.

Transcend: Lifetime as per website, As per ebay, accel frontline provides only 2 years of warranty.

eBay India: Transcend JetFlash 600 8GB USB Flash Drive 2yr wty 8 GB (item 330440861255 end time 14-Jun-2010 17:52:22 IST)

HP - 2 Years
Verbatim - 3 years
Corsair - 10 years
Kingston - 5 Years
please tell me what r the actual warranty provided by transcend and sandisk ????

Transcend India website says lifetime limited warranty:

2. Effective January 1st 2006 the following Transcend products are covered by this warranty for life, SD series (except Industrial SD cards), MMC series, CF series (except Industrial CF cards) memory cards and JetFlash series USB flash drives (except JetFlash 210/220).

Welcome to Transcend website

Also, you can purchase the same product you mentioned (Transcend JetFlash 600 8GB) for 1050 bucks from Transcend. 50 bucks more than eBay, but you buy directly from the company :) This is the link from Transcend India:

Considering your budget - Corsair flash voyager seems to be the best choice(reliability+warranty+speed). If you are willing to spend more then OCZ turbo (ATV & Rally 2) drives can give upto 30 mbps write speed.
Second problem is availability of these drives in India.

+1 for Transcend.

I have been using 4 GB drive for almost 3 years. No problems faced till date.

More over, it comes with life time warranty.

i'm also in same dilemma:(,
want to purchase 8gb flash drive but not sure for which one to go for
my budget is 1.2k
please suggest asap guys, looking for reliability, then speed
(sorry for hijacking the thread, don't want to start a new one of same topic:bleh:)

Have been using Transcend for 2 years - no issues so far (touchwood). I get good read / write speeds using TeraCopy
