Galvanizer
Will be buying new rig tomorrow........

following are specs :

Core i5 2500k

Asus P8P67 pro

Corsair 550VX

Requirements :

1. Need atleast 6 bays for HDD

2. Need to light weight less than 10kg

3. budget max 6k

I liked following ones

1. NZXT gamma total VFM suits all my requirements but didnt like its shape much...

2. NZXT EVO : liked it very much but too heavy (around 11.2kg)

3. Cooler master HAF912 : fits just in budget 5.8k (around 8kgs)

anyother suggestions.......??

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

I am looking to upgrade my cabbie too and have the Nzxt tempest evo and the HAF 912 advanced in my mind. Personally I like the Evo looks, but it is too big for my taste. The 912 advanced looks more like a proper mid-tower with features of higher HAF series incuded. I am leaning towards the 912 advanced... like it's look and size , but feel it's overpriced at nearly 5800/-

If you are looking for better performance, then the EVO will be a great option, though I feel the 912 will give it a close run. Where are you going to get it from?

If I were you I would blindly go for the NZXT Tempest EVO period.

In the airflow and the bundle you get (6 fans pre-bundled) I think this is the best crate you can get for a PC sub-6K.

I know Tempest EVO the best one available in terms of features....... but only negative point is that its too heavy.....around 11kgs........ which will be problem as i move from one city to another......

i am getting more inclined to EVO cabinet as of now.......... i also found NZXT gamma to be very VFM as it weighs only 6kgs and is pretty spacious inside..... and one can also add extra fans.......

talked to ITDEPOT guy in chennai today, he had stocks only for NZXT gamma and NZXT phantom......... and i don't think delta peripherals will keep nzxt as it isnt mentioned on there site........

the other option is CM HAF 912........ but is costly.....

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

To which ITdepot branch did you talk to? I had a look at the EVO a couple of days back. They have a piece at least in stock at their valasaravakkam branch. Do check out with deltapage, even if they dont have it with them they might source it from somewhere. Just enquire to find the best price. I feel you can get the 912 for 5.6/5.7k with them.

Both the EVO and the HAF 912 advanced are 99$ cases. I dont understand why cooler master cabbies are over priced here in India.

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

I got a quote of 6050/- for Cooler Master HAF912 Advanced cabinet from delta......

should i go for it......??? i think a little bargaining will reduce the price......

SMC is selling it for 5990/- and It depot is selling HAF912 only at 5855/-........

Tempest Evo is not available at the moment........

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

You can bargain for sure with delta. Try to get 912 Advanced for 5.5/5.6k it should be possible. I spoke to that guy and he was qutoing 5.9k and I told him I am planning to get it soon and would like it for 5.5-5.6k. He said he will see what best he can do. I think his name is Albert. Unfortunately I could not get to take a look at the cabby. Seems like it is in his godown.

You sure you cant find the evo? Checked with the valasaravakkam store? I saw one there not more than a week ago and it is highly unlikely that someone would get it within that short time.

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

Still pushing for the Tempset EVO but any way here is a review for Cooler Master HAF 912 -- Cooler Master HAF 912 Review » Page 6 - Conclusion - Overclockers Club

The footprint of the Tempest EVO is smaller than its competitor the HAF 922 and the overall build is better as well, please note that the Cooler Master cabinets have no dust filters either, I have a Cooler Master Scout its heavier but thanks to the handle changes the equation completelty but its got average cooling capabilities, so that is why I'm being so stubborn on the point of the NZXT Tempest EVO.

@devesh38 bruv get a better PSU as well.

Tempest EVO is the much better option then HAF912 as it costs less and comes with more fans... But if you can't find NZXT Tempest EVO in your city then i would advice you to buy CM 690 II Advanced... Best alternate option...

Re: Suggest a Cabinet for Sandby bridge RIG

^ ya advance one has more fans and side window and its just 8 kgs..... plus one can add one fan to side transparent window too....

according to annanagar branch guy the tempest evo is not available at any of itdepot showroom.....

i am more inclined towards haf912 as EVO is 11.2 kgs and plus i think i would have to w8 for it too....

@Alpha17:
as for the psu i already have corsair vx550 with me so that would suffice.....

^^ CM 690II advanced and the 912 advanced are priced pretty close together. From the specs, they are almost similar in dimensions and the 912 comes with two 200mm fans instead of the 140mm on the 690. The performance of the 912 will slightly be better than the 690 I feel.

Apart from that it is just the looks. Some like the HAF and some like the 690 looks. Both are equally good cabbies but the 912 edges out the 690 in fans and flexibility. It has mounting bays for 2.5" SSD's and it's hard drive cage can be mounted straight or sideways based on air flow.

OP: Do update which one you are getting and from where and at what price. I will be going on a hunt hopefully next month.

@vpraveenis and all : Thanks to all for your inputs........... bought the rig with cabinet yesterday evening from delta peripherals.......... the guy didnt lower his price even a little bit..........need to work on my bargaining skills too.........:P

Bought Coolermaster HAF912 advanced for 6k............ its awesome.........will cr8 a show off thread by evening once my new rig assembly and windows installation is complete..........with some game screenshots too..........:hap2:

Congrats Mate!! Eagerly waiting for your showoff! :)

Do upload your installation pics. It should be a breeze to do cable management. And can you do a favour? I am looking to mod the LED fan with LED of my own once I get it. If possible do post some close-up shot of the front fan LED (how LED is attached to the fan and how it is wired). Just wanted to know how easy/difficult it will be to change the fan LED color.

The best advise is to by Cooler Master Elite 310 (around Rs. 1600) & save money for a good CPU cooler!!! as you are going to need it:)
