suggest a cpu cooler

i want to purchase a cpu cooler. my budget is 2K

config-

amd athlon II x2 240

biostar ta785ge 128m

corsair vx450

sapphire 4670 512mb

2gb 667mhz kingston ram

500gb seagate 7200.12

WD 500gb caviar blue

nzxt gamma(will purchase this before the cooler)

i'm considering cm hyper 212+

now i am confused about some things here-

-is cm hyper 212+ is the best one, i can get under my budget

-do I have to remove the plastic mounting frame to install a after market cooler??



-will there be any problem in installation with my mobo, because the ram sockets are very close to the cpu socket

- cooler will fit with nzxt gamma or not??

Get the CM Hyper 212+. Period.
No you don't have to remove the mounting sockets.
And I highly doubt it will interfere with the RAM slot unless your RAM has tall heatspreaders, which it doesn't.
So go for it you won't be disappointed! :D

it looks kind of risky, will this procedure void warranty??:huh:
 
Guys why not the Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer 92MM CPU Cooler?
 
For bolt through HSF you would need to remove that orange plastic. Where else are there holes on the board, to push through the pins...? I doubt this would void warranty.
 
there are no holes on the mobo, apart from the holes for installation in the cabinet.

does hyper 212+ require more than 4 holes??
 
Hyper 212 +: 4.72" (L) x 3.14" (W) x 6.24" (H)

Sunbeam 92mm : 4.92" (L) x 4.09" (W) x 6.10" (H)

Only concern is depending on how it is mounted, it may cover a RAM slot but you would have the same issue with the Hyper 212 + also.

CCF 92 has only 4 pipes.

CCF 120 has 4 thicker pipes

The fan controller is definitely a plus.

CCF 120 performs lot better than hyper 212, but comes for a price.

And if you are strictly under 2k budget, i think 212 makes better buy.

OR you can get a ThermalRight Ultima 90i CPU cooler, Keeps my AMD Phenom II X2 550BE at 30 C on idle and 45 max on gaming

You would need 4 holes near the CPU socket to bolt down the HSF. So I guess the orange plastic needs to be removed. Also make sure which ever HSF you pick up, you get an AMD kit. Some companies do not provide as default.

by the way which is the best mounting position??
and how i should configure the top fan??
i'll be using 120mm fan above the cpu cooler, should i make it blow air on the cooler or exhaust heat out of the cabinet
 
All CPU Cooler Fans suck air into the heatsink & blow out the heat to the other side.

The Top fan should always blow out the air, Remember HEAT RISES!

There is only one way the Hyper 212+ will fit in i.e. opposite the RAM's

Install the RAM sticks before the cooler. Best would be if you are able to make it south to north direction with top fan acting as exhaust. But rear fan as exhaust and east to west direction would be good too. And BTW, Hyper 212 plus is as good as many HSF's twice it's price. But do remember to read tutorials on how the TIM should be applied on These types of cooler. You have to fill the gaps first, then apply the required quantity of TIM, not too much.

I don't understand what that orange thing is for, but you may have to remove it. I am not sure. While installing it you will know if you are doing anything wrong. Hyper 212 Plus already comes for AMD accessories so no worries there.

I meant that if you have a top exhaust in your cabinet it will be a little better to make the Hyper 212+ face upward, unlike the east to west direction in the picture. But surely the way shown in the pick is ok too. Just see what works better for your motherboard and RAM sticks.

Also, don't be afraid to try it out with/ without that orange thing. You will surely know which way the cooler is fitting securely.

I'm sure the cooler will touch the ram dimms if i install it south to north.
anywaz, I'll try.

I'll buy cm hyper at end this month.
