As my plan of getting Envy 17 at 68.5k from flipkart is over,so please suggest me a laptop for around 68k.

My main priority is gaming, beside that watching movies, surfing & other normal stuffs.I'm really keen to get a full HD >15inch screen.

There are 3-4 options :

1.Customized Dell XPS 15- I wont buy it as Dell makes too much fuss about shipping laptops to Kolkata,i don't wanna take so much headache. I cant get it from local stores either because none of them have the full hd model.

2.HP DV6 6121tx - NO,because of the gpu issue.I'v heard the gpu is badly throttled around 200mhz core, add to that no full HD & HP's pathetic ASS in Kolkata as someone pointed out in my previous post.

3.ASUS N53SN - This the laptop which serves most of my needs.It has a full hd 1080p display,core i7 2630qm,6gigs ram,GT 550m(i know it's not so good :( ,still i can manage with it),bluray,good build quality.

It was available here some months back, don't know it's available now or not as i heard it's already EOLd.Can any Asus N53 owner confirm this,& how is their laptop ASS?

4.MSI GX660 -This is a great laptop & i was persistent to get this few months back until i found out their crap warranty policy where i'v to pay one way shipping charges to their service center which i think is not in my city, also they show 2 year warranty but it's calculated from the date of manufacture :@ .

I cant think anymore options right now, please suggest if u guys know anything better.I badly need to buy a laptop quickly :( . Helps appreciated.

That's it. There is no other option with Full HD screen. Only the Sony Vaio CB15 but I think you probably are not interested in it and hence did not even list it.

Try and inquire if any dealer could get you the Asus. Asus A.S.S. is handled by Rashi peripherals in India AFAIK. And the model you listed costs 69990 I believe

Asus N53sn was priced around 67k when i inquired around 3months back.....afaik Rashi only handles Asus mobos, cards, drives, not sure though. My question is,how it performs & is there any known issue with this laptop beside the old style crap keyboard with epic flex.

Buying Dell laptop from kolkata is not that difficult, you have to collect the form 50 from sales tax office(located near Beliaghata),pay the VAT,get it signed and send the original copy to Dell via speed post. The whole deal will take about 3 days.

There is another easier route, visit http://www.isonixtech.in/,give those guys a call or send them a mail with your desired configuration, they will call you back,do some hard bargaining..and opt for COD.

Are you sure? I mean in a metro city like Kolkata, no shops has the model or cannot get you one ?

No stores stock the full hd model,i guess you have to order & they will in turn place an order to dell.So no point going that route.

@O.P you probably have visited the shops in the chandni market and g.c chandra avenue area.FHD option was available in the Dell store kakurganchi, even if they dont have it,they usually arrange it within 8-10 days.

Isonix will probably charge you around Rs.500 more than the website price+VAT.

Do check the kakurgachi store, they usually do not charge more but takes a little more time than isonix.

I visited the kankurgachi store around 2 months back, at that time they was not having the FHD model.I'll call them to check if it's available now.

Another thing,is this VAT only for West Bengal or for all other states? If not then i'll try to ship it to my brother's place in Secunderabad.

I have the Asus N53SN and i am quite happy with the performance it offers for the price. Ofcourse it wont allow you to play at FHD resolutions in most of the games, 1366*768 is its sweetspot. Crank up the details and the games are still playable.

About being EOLed, its not true. The range is still being manufactured, current price being 65300/- at Kol.

Can you give me some more details like how's the screen,i heard the keyboard is the major drawback of this laptop, also there is some current leakage?

How's Asus laptop ASS in Kolkata?

Where can i get this,i asked Laptopia & IT Arena they said they don't have it.

The screen is quite good. Viewing angles are good horizontally. Not as good vertically. Brighness levels are spot-on though. Keyboard isnt backlit and theres considerable amount of flex. But to me, that isnt much of an issue. Atleast i wont be resting my palms on it :P Even i read about current leakage issues before purchasing. But I havnt noticed any in mine.

I havnt had the oppurtunity to judge the ASS yet. Hopefully I wont anytime soon :-S

I purchased mine from Laptopia couple of months back.

Thanks for your reply. You have said it's current price is 65.3k,from where you get that price?

Will it be a better buy than XPS 15?

Thats the quote I got from Laptopia itself when i enquired about the price as a friend of mine was interested too. That was a month ago.

Price and performance wise, its a better buy than the XPS as the later is expensive by a couple of grands for the same specification. People are all praises about the dell's FHD screen. Personally I have campared mine with my colleague's XPS. The difference isnt much other than the vertical viewing angles. Theres also difference of a few frames in couple of games i tried i.e witcher 2 and Bulletstorm, both slightly favoring the N53SN.

But then Dell is widely available while the N53 sadly isnt.

^^

Though I haven't come across any numbers on the N53SN FHD display but Asus does use good quality panels in its laptops so I am quite sure that FHD screen on N53SN would be almost the same quality as the Dell XPS B+RG.

Can you check and tell us who is the manufacturer of the screen in your laptop ?
