This is for my sister. Budget is less than 40K. Is it possible to get a 17" laptop at this price? She favors Dell since many of her friends have it and are happy with it.
Requirements: Watching movies, net surfing, some document work. Portability is not an issue since she will be carrying it to work only once in a while. Will be getting her a wired internet connection too.
Most importantly, I will be getting it from Nehru place. I know that the best dealers are in the Meghdoot building, but are there any particular shops I should look into before buying?
 
You can pick up a compaq 17" for ~45k or lower I guess. Dell will be more exp.

Acer/Compaq have some basic 16" widescreen ones too that should come in your budget :)
 
Can you please suggest the exact model and all. That way I can fix up a model and price in my mind before going to buy it. And which Compaq laptop are you telling about?

For your budget n large screen requirements:
