I am planning to get a new car.
I own a Indica for about 2yrs now.
I am looking for a car with following requirements:
*4-5 people sized family.
*low maintenance costs.
*good driving comfort for 6ft tall person.
*expected usage upto 5yr.
*Budget 4-5Lakhs.

Need to travel daily 20km in city and 30km on highway.
so please suggest me a good car.

Why not the tried and tested Swift VDi if its 50KM a day?

Other option in 'that' size is Ford Figo, however i'd not commit to a vehicle which is nary a month old on the roads.

err... Punto anyone?

I think there's a new Swift coming up this year?

You should check it out.

There is the higher end i10 which fits perfectly in your budget and if you stretch a bit you could get a lower end i20 magna for 5.6-5.8ish if your lucky i.e. discounts, free insurance etc. and depending upon where you register your car.

"50 Km daily" leaves you with diesels only. Petrol car might be costlier to run.
TD Ford FIGO 1.4 diesel. good space at rear.
Similarly TATA Indica Vista and Manza. loads of rear space.
You can try Ritz diesel too. very good Fiat 1.3 MJD engine.
Avoid Swift. lesser space at back.
POLO diesel isn't that good.
personally I would with Fiat Punto 1.3 MJD, but it has lesser space at back.
Fun to ride and looks cool. very good engine too( same as Swift, Ritz, Vista, manza) .

For petrol-> POLO -> Figo -> Ritz -> I10

Yeah rear space is also a major point to me.i need to look for a car with more foot room.

Ford FIGO 1.4 diesel fits perfectly.

Else you can go for Ritz petrol.

The new swift has come with the 1.2L engine.
The looks are the same. You cant tell the difference between the new and the old swift. The only thing different is the Engine and the suspension.

Here are the best options ull have in the budget for good mileage and low maintenance.

1. Ritz Vdi

2. VW Polo

3. Ford Figo TDCi

4. Swift Vdi

IMO take out swift, out of the options beacuse :-

it rattles A LOT, rear seat cramped, old model, poor build quality, very common

Now its b/w options 1, 2 & 3

VW Polo is new. I went straight away for a testdrive of the polo petrol. Oh my god, what a disappointment. The petrol engine was even louder then most diesels out there.

The drive was very shabby and the pickup was aweful.

Pros are good looks, uniqueness, decent build. Period.

Your main contenders would be figo, ritz.

These are the best cars in this budget.

Figo v/s ritz :-

1. Both cars are well built, but figo has the edge.

2. When it comes to pickup, you cant compare with maruti ddis. Its got so much evident torque.

3. Ritz has got better drive ability.

4. Both cars offer good high speed stability and handling, but figo is ahead with a v small margin.

5. Low maintenance cost in the Ritz. Ford parts are generally costly when compared to marutis.

6. Larger boot in the figo

7. Rear seat spacing is a bit better in figo.

8. The interiors of Ritz are far better.

9. Plastic quality in both seem to be decent.

10. Easy availability of parts for the ritz.

11. Better fuel ecenomy in the ritz, but not by much.

12. Looks - Ritz looks good from the front and side. But rear is a bit subjective. Whereas figo has average looks.

IMO, you should go for the ritz diesel, eyes closed, if you are looking for better fuel economy and low maintenance as main priorities.

I disagree . While the default red dashboard figo doesnt look very good , the black dashboard version looks great . The only hatchback with a better interior is the Chevy Beat .

Ritz's rear is a complete put off to many people .
But i hear that the back is really roomy and so its a great passenger car .

IMO, you should go for the ritz diesel, eyes closed, if you are looking for better fuel economy and low maintenance as main priorities.
IMO Figo Titanium (Petrol) is a better choice . Cheaper by around 20k (Ex-Showroom price) and you get power windows , Airbags , CD player , Power steering , ABS etc .

But you must decide if you want to go in for petrol or diesel depedning on your requirements .

Considering ur requirements , Rits is overall best option ! its VFM , great car , spacious , less maintainance cost plus good resale value being Maruti-Suzuki ...

I see Ritz would be a better option, but WV Polo attracts me for its style and brand name.

umm! need to decide.

also any new models entering the market,as i will be buying car in june.
