suggest a water purifier under 5k

I use Pure-It! No plumbing requirements was a must - and the no electricity thing is a bonus. Thing works fine for just 2k total (350 for working component replacement every 'huge' number of liters). Google for details. :)

I sow the new one launched by TATA. It comes with two variants for rs 699 and 999. Company commits without changing filter for 3 yrs you can drink clean water :)

You must describe the quality of your water supply to get a meaningful response. Without that the responses here are just based on emotion.

This is exactly the kind of emotional response I was talking about. RO may not be the best for him. We should not misguide him without understanding the situation. In a place like Mumbai with good quality BMC water, RO is more harmful than beneficial. RO works best where it is hard water. Let the OP post the details of his water supply first.

Whatever may be the use,

Dont take HLL Pureit. Its crap, Start cost is just 1000 Rs but then you keep changing damn battery every 3 months.

i have been using Pureit for 2.1/2 years now and its been good and the water purification is also good.

it completely depends on the water. If the water is Hard water then the German Kill battery kit has to be changed often and this also depends on the water consumption of that family . if they consume more water then the German Kill battery kit has to be changed often. Initially the water @ our old house was normal water, neither soft or hard water and the water consumption per day was around 4 liters, so we used to change the German Kill battery kit every once in a year. We shifted to a new house abt 3 months back and the water here is Hard water and we had to change the German Kill battery kit within 5 months of the previous change. so it completely depends on the Kind of water and water consumption.

If ur looking for water purifier which can be used without electricity, then thee are 2 options.

1.PureIt - Hindustan Unilever Ltd = Rs.2000
2.Aquasure - Eurekaforbes = around Rs.2500-2800
Regards
