As the title goes...

Pre-requisites:

1. SD card slot
2. Full HD display
3. 3g
4. 9 inches or more
5. Cost under 30K

No iBall, Micromax, etc.. Preferably one of the more reputable brands Samsung, Asus, Lenovo..

I want exactly the same thing. AFAIK, there are no options available locally based on what you posted above.

Here, you will have to stretch that budget to around 40-42k to find something that covers all the requirements you listed. BTW, you didn't mention what version of Android you would be okay with but I assumed you would want JB or higher.

If you're willing to drop the "Full HD" requirement (which I personally would not), the Lenovo S6000 is a great deal for around 20k.

Well he was initially looking at an iPad 4 + LTE but said if I find Android equivalents 30% cheaper then he could go for Androids. I'm open to decent options from abroad (say at US$500) but can't narrow down any.

Reading and media consumption...and reading as in not books, but mails, websites, etc.. He wants to use his laptop less. I know it's very broad, but this is essentially it. He travels a lot and so 3G in the tablet is a major requirement for him.

Yeah and JB is or higher is preferred.

If it is reading, emails, 3G and such then why is SD Card slot even a requirement. A 16GB iPad (with 3G/LTE whatever) should work really well for him.

Ok I should have been a bit specific about media consumption. He likes watching shows too on his laptop, hence the extra storage requirements. And as I had mentioned before, a 4th iPad with LTE/3g was his first choice. If he finds an Android equivalent which is 30% cheaper (sadly seems unlikely) he'll buy the Android.

Anyone who likes watching Full HD movies, TV shows etc. will find the lack of a SD slot on a tab very limiting unless they buy tabs with large native capacity. These tend to be priced absurdly high, particularly for iPads.

I looked around but I was a bit surprised that I was unable to find an Android tab that meets your price/spec requirements even abroad. Talking about well known brands here, not Chinese brands.

Same here. I think he'll end up going with a 32gb iPad.. I should have asked me cousin to get a refurbished one... Or wait for the Transofrmer Duet and convince him otherwise. That too sadly doesnt seem to have any mobile connectivity.

Cant tethering through mobile be used as a substitute for 3G?? If yes, then nook hd+ is an excellent option.9".Cheap.(150$ from US).Full HD.Warmer colours suited for media consumption and micro SD slot.

About the 3g tethering, He uses his phone for it at the moment. He wants the tablet to have 3g, for the 2 odd hours a day he spends in a car or at an airport. One can say why not use the phone in the car for tethering but that's just his requirement. It's a difficult one for me to explain. Also the thing is I haven't found anything suitable abroad either so far...
