Suggest an Android tool for browsing local intranet media

My family needs to view photos/videos at any given time without me requiring to turn on my pc and walk them through it!
I'm going to attach a portable hdd/ssd to my routers usb port containing such data.
From the phones one can go to the File manager, add network bla bla and browse from there.
But this will be too technical for my family esp. elders.

Thus, I'm looking for an android tool via which this job can be simplified and browse the media just like any internal media.

I had a bit of terrible exp. with Kodi for streaming media between TV and Pc.

You just want to give them ability to browser physical files/folders or play media ?
Windows SMB is a good soution

Also look into immich if you can self host.

Doesn't get any better than that for personal photos and videos.
