Suggest Bank for Online banking

It's the 10K min balance and 750/- charge, scaring me in case of ICICI.
still confused.

HDFC no frills account says
"BillPay : Rs. 25 (plus taxes) per qtr per Customer ID" so that's 100 p.a.
is it normal? I mean "justified".

It's just that I won't be using this account much. just a few trasactions for online purchases, say 1 per month, and paying 6 bills (MTNL and Electric), per month approx. and might withdraw the cash received from online selling esp TE.

and why don't I see any interest rate in ICICI and HDFC saving accounts details, as I have it with my Saraswat and Bank of Maharashrta accounts? Is there any?

of course they prob have some interest rate, might not be mentioned as a major feature tho ;)

ashish use net banking instead of bill pay facility and pay online bill..

its better u keep extra amount in fd(say 10-20K) and go for monthly interest payout..after all rates are 9.5% their and also time period ard a year(monthly ull get ard 80 to 160 buks that way)...if u go for mature interest payout u may also get compounded interest..after all in savings yearly interest is always less and also u get at 6 months interval

Have an account with both ICICI and HDFC. both are good but i feel ICICI is better especially when it comes to Online banking.

If you want an Online account that too with zero charges and zero minimum balance....

Go for New Icicibank Branch free account...

Just visti icicibank.com and see branch free banking. I believe it will fulfill your needs and comes free with zero balance...

Third party deposits are still not allowed in non-base branches I think. The 2 ATM transaction limit per month has been removed.

Also if you are taking the HDFC NoFrills account dont forget to apply for a Debit Card separately. When I opened the account they gave a normal ATM Card.

What is normal ATM card & debit card :S ICICI chanrge Rs.110/- yearly all inclusive for Debit Card.

May be hdfc charge ATM card & debit card too.

Yes ICICI keeps on changing the charges all the time. Luckily the new minimum balance requirement is applicable only to new accounts. For old accounts its still 5000. :P

Are you sure? ICICI dispatch letter to all customers, though I didn't remember now but think the Rs.10000/- min. balance is for all customers including old too.

guys just take a look at this

Opening a savings account in ICICI Bank

Just eye opening !!

Ashish thats personal stuff...i would again say if u know somone who has account their u can go with them.......The problem is that icici is so famous that rthey hire any person for account opening without proper knowledge stuck ppls...but same is for other banks too...

So its better u know which bank in your area is good frm your frnds.....

What i personally dont like abt icici is they feed first lollypop and later charge a bomb for it....first changing minimum balance stuff 2nd they were first to charge cash deposit stuff for credit cards in banks

I didnt get any letter from ICICI regarding it. Also in my branch it was written that the new minimum balance requirement is only applicable to accounts opened after some specific date, I dont remember the date though. I opened my ICICI account about 3 years back so I guess its still 5k for me. :P

Also the branch free account from ICICI is good but the only prob is you dont get a Debit or ATM card to withdraw money. But you can transfer it to some other bank using NEFT for free. :)

Hmmm... Been a user of Kotak Bank for over 2 yrs (Salary a/c though). Net Banking is supposedly the best possible with loads of features (Including Netcard - A feature by which you can generate a virtual CC using funds in your a/c to purchase stuff online :P). Check it out: Kotak

Guys can we use this thread for general banking discussion as it is going on now. instead of just my needs.
It would be good no?
