Hey people, this is kind of urgent.

I need to make a choice between the two SATA DVD RW's...

1. Sony Optiarc 170S

2. Asus DRW 1814BLT

Both cost around 1700, need the following..

1. Good Burn quality (duh)

2. Ability to do a CD/DVD Speed Error Scan via Nero CDSpeed

Which of the two would be a better choice...also whos the OEM for the Asus DVDRW?

Cheers

Deepak

LOL, all drives can do a CD/DVD scan in Nero :P

As for the ASUS, it most prolly is a Pio drive, check the review here

The asus doesnt seem like a great drive. Atleast the CDRlabs review doesnt talk too highly of it. Its not a rebadged pio btw.

Arre anish

these are the prices i found at Metro Computers @ SP Road

add 4% VAT to the prices///

hows Pavan Computers? also any comments regarding Astro Computers?

Ankit charges way way way over the price....not as much as Sabir tho

^ Well Sabir does personal discounts but you can go ahead with Metro for the CPU and RAM. Get the DVD from Sabir if you can't find it anywhere.

You can always mention my reference and ask for a little you know, telling him prices at SP are wayy lower :P
