I stay in Aundh, Pune and we need to hook up a net connection here. Please suggest which is a good option for us.

I just spoke to an airtel representative and he said that the place where i stay (building / lane) there is no connectivity, so airtel is out of question :(

Oh dear... TATA then ??? Their up times are a little dodgy depending on the locality but they deliver most of the times. Check YOUTele also they also are kinda ok ok...

Does anyone have number of Tata Indicom broadband representative in Pune ??

Ok so contacted tata indicom as well and they too said that they cannot provide net at my place. It seems no wired internet available at my place :(

^^I live near Spencers, in the lane of Bajaj service center (Millenium Auto) and no...i mean absolutely no wired service provider comes here. :@

I enquired with Airtel, Tata Indicom, Tata Indicom Photon ADSL, You tele. :(

i wonder how come nobody in your society uses net or do they have wireless bb.

then the only option remains is wireless--Reliance, idea, tata.

Or if you have airtel simcard then use edge/gprs on it it has good speeds if not the best.

^^ I do have airtel SIM card but have not activated net on that. I suppose airtel charges ridiculously high charges for mobile office.

I instead have aircel SIM for net access on phone. On laptop it is pathetic.

BSNL seems to be the last option but am yet to ask...but have few queries.

In my rented home here, we have telephone point (old one two hole type) but not sure if it works. Need to ask owner.

Also considering it is not working, i suppose inital cost will be high which will including getting the phone line working.

Moreover apart from internet rental, i will have to also pay for the telephone line rental per month right ???

Dude I got a flyer from a Vodaphone guy about a unlimited USB dongle internet. He said they give a demo to the customer. The USB thingy costs 1750 buxx and it has a 599 PM UL charge. 0% national roaming and all. Let me fish the guy's no I'll PM ya it..

Get reliance wimax.

They will install an antenna on the terrace and thats it.

The speeds will depend on the proximity of the tower.

Installation charge of rs 500 only (incluing modem, wiring, etc)

@DJ, whats the Vodafone claimed download speed vs. what you actually see during the demo?

I didnt take any demo.... Not allowed in office and I live in the worst ever area in terms of wireless coverage :bleh:

Actually the main problem is that we are three roomies and need to have an internet connection which we can share. So we were looking out for wired plans.

Also does anyone have reliance wimax guy contact number and can that connection be shared by multiple people ?

@DJ

Even if you did not take the demo, how much was the speed that the vodafone guy told you (incase he did) ?

edit: I called the number you gave and probably i will have a demo of the same by this evening.
