No!!!

DVD Players only play Xvid/DivX, that too with restrictions (No GMC etc)! x264 encoding cannot be decoded by any available DVD player. Sorry!

I just checked.My dvd player clearly supports MP4 playback apart from DivX !
It's the LG DS9481CPE !

if u can extend ur budget to 3.2k i saw a sony model(628 i guess) and it had almost everything divx,mp3,wma....except fm tuner and hdmi...luked good to me
