Hi

I will probably be buying a Tata Manza soon and want to purchase a complete audio setup around 30-35k max.

I want:

HU
2 front speakers
2 rear speakers
1 woofer

Can you suggest the best brands and the place to buy in New Delhi?

I am thinking along the lines of:

HU Clarion or Kenwood or Blaupunkt around 8-10k or so

Front speakers either Hertz or Polk or Focal or Infinity around 8-10k

Rear speakers around 5k-7k

Sub around 6-8k

Can I please get some serious replies? :(

Any good place to buy Hertz/Focal/Polk in NCR???

Approx rates and products!!!

From what I have hear Blaupunkt quality has deteriorated over the years and there are chances will go down the drain in India atleat in some time... This was told to me by the guy who fits all stuff in our cars at home...
Dont really know if that is true but get that checked before going for it

What is Damping?

If required, I can make 30k for the setup and remaining 2-5k for writing etc.

But which brands? Will I get something from Clarion in my budget?

To know about damping, Check it outDamping and also have a look at the ICE threads at Team-BHP!

Everything depends on how much of an audiophile you are !

you can get Clarion HU's from outside india, at good rates, but

For your budget , you should stick to something from pioneer

and You also should think of getting an amp if you intend to power a woofer !

you dont want the HU to get fried do you :P

Either you can scratch the woofer out or increase your budget a bit more and get an amp and do good damping!

Damping is thick sheets of foam or similar materials that you place on your door panels.. used to reduce vibration and resonance and help improve sound quality.

Not sure about the HU, go through some threads on t-bhp and see whats recommended.

Speakers, I'm guessing Driven will recommend Rainbow audio.

Drop by their place, they will have a couple of installs going on and you can check how they sound. Will probably give you an idea on what you want.

Edit: Missed the bit about the woofer. Yes, you will need an amp to run it.

The cheapest amp I know of is the JBL GT5-A604 for about 5k.

Its a 4 channel amp, so you can power the front comps and bridge the rear channel outputs to power the sub.

Edit: Scratch that, its been discontinued. Theres an S644 in its place which is 8k. There's a cheaper 2 channel amp for 5k though.

AFAIK there are no HUs with amplification for the sub. The sub channel will only have a pre-amp output.

Is there any way to use a sub without an external amp? With like a 5ch HU or something???

Nope. Might be possible, but 5.1 channel HUs are not cheap, and in any case it's not recommended running the sub off the HU.

Skip the sub if you need to keep costs low. Assuming your Manza uses 6.5" speakers, there should be enough bass.

Hey i am in same boat... i have Manza and gone through many checks and let me tell you my findings -

1. Manza has inbuilt HU, front speakers and Parcel tray Oval shape speakers - > quality is just about OK for FM. no serious music or bass....big NO NO

2. Steering mounted audio control works only with current HU --> big problem when you think of replacing HU

3. HU panel is 2 DIN but inside its true 1DIN player only however you cannot install after market 2 DIN player due to shape of the console.

4. 2 DIN after market HU needs custom made frame which will cost you more and then only you will be able to install it.

5. current HU powers only 18w x4. even cheapest Pio HU gives you 50w x 4 --> current HU big problem if you just upgrade to quality speakers.

6. you need speaker upgrade + AMP as HU gives very less power so even if you install GTO series 90W RMS speakers HU cant drive them.

Possible solutions -

1. Keep current HU so you can have steering mounted controls + change existing to some decent speakers + add AMP (2/4 channel) + sound damping + wiring

2. Keep current HU so you can have steering mounted controls + change existing to some decent speakers + add AMP (4.1 channel) + Sub + sound damping + wiring

3. Custom frame + aftermarket HU + speakers + AMP(2/4 channel) + sound damping + wiring

4. Custom frame + aftermarket HU + speakers + AMP (4.1 channel)+ Sub + sound damping + wiring

hope this helps. decide and let me know your decision. i am waiting for my friends to come from US so i can get good 4.1 AMP for less then 6k :)
