Laptops Suggest Lappy plz

If you're in the market for a decently configured machine with looks to kill for... on a budget of course... check out the Compaq V3000 series laptops and the HP dv2000 series laptops.

yup, both the V3000 and dv 200 are excellent machines, though I doubt they are available in Core Duo /2Duo as yet....

It'd be pointless to pick up a Centrino Machine now

Also the Dell 640m still shows up only with the Core Duo (Yonah) options and not Core2 Duo (merom)

lol.... it's good to know u've atleast narrowed down the list.

All good options... totally depends on what you're gonna use it for.

Personally, I'd go for the 3035TU... I like the way it looks. High Gloss Dark Brushed Steel Finish.

If I had to go for the Dell... then I'd take option 3... more power never hurt anybody... then again... more money does ;)

All good options... just evaluate if spending tht extra buck for the extra few MHz on the bus and the CPU is going to make a bigg diff to you.

That would be my choice......

I think for your usage a 14" regular or wide will be perfect.
12" laptops have a very crammed keyboard IMO. Some keys are narrower than others and it pisses me off but thats just me. Generally Ive found that 13-14" machines have comfortable keyboards. Unfortunately, I believe the only HP and Sony have 13" laptops and I dont recommend either of those brands. Hence look for a 14" with the best specs you can get with your budget. Im pretty sure Dell has em, as does Acer and ASUS. Fujitsu and IBM are a little more on the expensive end.

Also, look into how much heat the machine you chose produces. My Acer is a beast power wise and a pleasure to use but it does heatup to the point where its not comfortable to have it sitting on my lap for extended periods.
