I don't like reading from ebooks at all and usually get hard copies. But there are few books which are not available for Indians (only sold in US market) so I have decided to take print out of these.

Total I have around 2000 pages need to be printed. All are black & white pages.

I asked a local guy here and he quoted me 1re for each page, so 2000 INR. Could there be any cheaper solution ?

I already have a color inkjet printer, Lenovo 4330. Where can I buy the cartridge and will this be cheaper ?

I can afford a printer up to 6-7K since I might be printing books again. Would that be cheaper in long run ?

Thank you !

You can get a continuous ink supply system setup for a inkjet printer. Not sure how reliable it is, as Ihave never done it before, but once setup and running it should be super cheap.
OR
You can find out which laser printer has chipless cartrisdge that can be refilled again and again.
OR
You can just get a kindle @ 70$

The laser printer is ur best option.

and also inkjet printer with third party refils can be very cost effective.. i remember used to taking like 100s of prints daily for a month. final year project reports. Came to like 40ps per sheet. INCLUDING PAPER. This was like 5 or 6 years back.

Get an eBook reader, that would work out to be the best option in the long run, and far cheaper than any paper printing.

buy an epson basic printer with refillable cartridges. I would suggest Epson L100 if you want all provided by company.

Where do you live? I'm sure most big cities have printing shops that would let you print a4 sheets for 30-50 paise. If you go for 2 pages in an a4 sheet (which would be good size for a paperback) then 2000 pages of text would only run you Rs 400 odd.

Sounds interesting. Can you tell me more about it ?

How do I know the inkjet printer I already have is compatible with 3rd party refills ? I don't have it's cartridge so I have to buy new one...

I already have one. but I mostly read programming books, PDFs with images, so eReader is not a good option for me.

FK has it at 7k. Is there any reason you suggested me this ? Also B&W would do with me.

I checked here, everyone is quoting very high. I am from north k'taka. btw I am unable to find out price of new cartridge for my printer. Even google doesn't seem to help. I contacted few local shops here & no one has any idea :S

I don't know much about continuous ink system. Your best bet is to google for it and ask local printing/refill shops.

Whidch ereader do you have ? Try k2pdfopt . I use this with my kindle 3 and it works really well.

i second the pdf reader recommendation. you should spend a bit more and get a bigger one for pdf's.

Get a laser printer for about 6k . Look at canon 2900 , it is for about 6k .

Toner is refillable . You can refill it your self .HP 12A toner can be used with it .

i Will suggest get the books imported. IF the difference is not large , importing them will be better .

I have Kindle & currently it's not with me. Can you converting try few books which has lots of programming code & books with lots of images ?

I will google & find out about continuous ink system.

I have Nook Color, 7" [currently not with me]. I tried paid/pro versions Mantano PDF reader & also my main issues were :
-Screen size itself. I felt 7" is too small. Nook Color is great for PDF with images though
-PDF. ePub reading is great, but not PDFs. Coverting PDF to ePub was out of option since most of them were programming books & ePub conversion screwed the formatting etc.
-Font size, margins, zoom in, everytime I had to set it :-/ [though in Mantano it was not the case]

So may be I should get 10" tablet, though there aren't any good PDF apps in Android. I will look into iPad & Playbook. iBook is good atleast in my iPhone 4.

i Will suggest get the books imported. IF the difference is not large , importing them will be better .
Any idea how much this would cost in total : Amazon has it at 18 USD.

flipkart - 1846 INR & HS18 at 1485 INR.

But US books are costly too. for example this math book is not available in India, has 700 odd pages :

amazon, 160 USD , flipkart 17K INR LOL, HS18, 18K :P

I recommended importing since tablets are good for novel . For these type of books e-readers are not convenient .

Get a laser printer , it will be cheaper . Btw i could never find printouts below 90P per page and that too when i had around 1500 pages .

L100 is "THE" printer if you are looking for CISS. CISS itself is provided by Epson so no worries about aftermarket cartridges. else buy any epson printer as all of them have aftermarket refillable cartridges. check for ink-shop-india shop on ebay.in

1. Cheapest soln
buy cartridge refilling kit ( nothing but a syringe and 100ml ink :D ) hardly 100/-

2. convenient soln
Epson T13 printer for 1800- 2000
CISS for 1300-1500
100 ml ink will print at least 2000 pages

I have Epson all in one Tx121 ( T13 + scanner) and CISS. damn cheap

The CISS seller sent his technician for the delivery. So I asked him to install it. :) I'm paying the money, right?
But it's very easy task. Also, their are many youtube vdos available.

OMG ! That's just 0.05 Re [ 5 paise] per page ! I already have a printer. Now I need to set up the CISS. Can you tell me more ?
