CPU/Mobo Suggest me a i5 Ivy Bridge to go along

My graphics card is dying. I am thinking of selling my current CPU(Config in sig) and get a i5 Ivy bridge which will also improve overall performance, and seems Intel HD 4000 does one heck of good job at games.
Don't need any over-clocking and all for now, but decent performance equivalent to i5 2500k or something..
What my concern is that will an i5 perform equally as good as an i7 3770 at gaming??
(my i3 2100 does not bottleneck any games AFAIK.)

And which Ivy Bridge i5 is good buy??

Seems i5 3550 looks pretty good. for around 11.5k may be...(-) 3,500 for my i3 2100 (-) 1,500 for my 5770 HD. (Hopefully)
 
I've sold my 5770 and rams for 2x4gb G. skill rip jaws 1600 CL9.

I am trading in my i3 for i5 2400 and buying a 550 ti. Please give me your opinions.

I intend to do casual gaming at 1360*768~ 1080p (where possible :p)
And video editing, conversion and VFx
, Photoshop work... THAN-Q
 
If you're getting new combo then go for this-
Intel i5 3550-12.5k
Gigabyte B75M D3H-4.5k
Since you've bought the ram you're set to go.
Sell your current config and get this,For GPU i'd suggest that you get Sapphire HD7770GHZ Edition-9k

Thanks for suggestion, but my motherboard seems good for the task Less than a year old
Cost me 16k.

Just thinking of getting a new processor..what's the price of i5 2400 successor??
I am getting 550 ti for 6k should be good enough I guess..

That's ok...I don't have time to oc now... I think a 3470 or 3550 should be good right?
I am getting 4.5k for my i3 2100...
