Storage Solutions suggest me a usb pendrive

I have never bought one but now I need one for data transfer basically, but I know that pen drive can be used for the following purposes

bootable pendrive

recovery drive

windows readyboost

data storage

data encryption

any more??

I was looking at kingston 16gb data traveler but strangely it says that its not compatible with windows ready boost, I don't know why?

My need as of now is data transfer & temporary storage but don't want to miss other features which I may need in the time to come. Can you suggest me a pen drive with higher speed data transfer & has rest of the above features too.

How about this one, any other model with better features than this one this is only 8gb ?

Hi I got a iball 4gb drive for 450/- in mumbai. I was on a tight budget ! the transfer rate is about 15.5 - 16.0 mb/sec.
 
Does these speed actually work in reality or are they just specs whih then will depend upon other peripherals.

I have a 4gb sandisk Cf card & the copying speed is never more than 4mb/s as reported by windows, whereas the card itself has much higher speed rating.

+1 ... Sold my Corsair Voyegar 8GB and got 16GB Corsair Voyegar GT ... reading around 30+ MBps and writing around 29+ MBps :ohyeah:
 
Guys Corsair Voyegar does not support windows ready boost, do we need something special to enable ready boost on these drives?

I have used Transcend 8 GB, HP Slim 8 GB, DataTraveller, Moserbaer. i found transcend and HP slim to be much better than other two. I usually use them for datatransfers like movies,songs, etc. They are much better in speed.
i have been using transcend 256MB one for 8 years and 8 Gb one for more than a year. HP slim for 3 months. just bought it from ebay.
 
As long as you intend to only interface with Windows or Mac systems, Corsair Flash Voyager should be fine. If you want it to work with anything else, avoid Corsair as they use a hub based controller which makes it incompatible with some equipment. My Corsair Flash Voyager does not work with my Home theatre system, my Samsung LCD TV and my Kodak digital photo frame.

Transcend has poor support if you happen to need it.

Guys for sure I will use this pen drive from transferring from pc to office mac, but the same will be having data (songs)to be played on car stereo & Samsung LCD

I went to nehru place & I am told that Corsair voyager is discontinued, I didn't believe these dealers but later found reports on the web that its discontinued & replaced with a newer model.

I need faster speed both read & write, most drives show higher read speed, but much slower write speeds, not sure why is it so?
 
Whatever happened to Buffalo, PNY, TwinMos and the likes ? :S

I have a PNY 8GB Micro attache which works just fine.

My friend happened to buy a 4gb hp slim FD and it simply refused to work.

IMHO, HP FDs are highly overrated !
 
Corsair Voyagers are one hell of a rugged drive. I had thrown it down from 5th floor thru a windows into the hands of a frend standing on concrete floor, and it landed on the ground instead of his hands. I though it wud be dead, but surprisingly, its just as fine as it was before.

Also once in bike, it was raining heavily, and i had the voyager and SE phone on my pant pocket. On reaching home, the mobile was dead while voyager was very much alive.

Also, You can order any number of free replacement rubber caps for any voyager/GT from corsair site, and it ll be delivered completely free of charges from US.

I ordered some 4 caps and got in finally though it took 1~2 months.
