PC Peripherals Suggest me SATA to USB/eSATA cable

Hi all !

I have a SATA hard disk and I want to connect to it my Laptop. My laptop has eSata port also. So which one I have to buy ?

- SATA to USB or
- SATA to eSATA ?

If you want speedier transfers eSATA <--> SATA if universal compatibility get the USB <--> SATA converter. Hope this helps.

USB gives about 30-32MBps transfer speed maximum, whereas esata should give normal SATA speed. Havnt tried eSATA though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

and waht about power supply to my HDD ?

^^Yeah it definitely requires separate power supply, even though eSATA includes power supply same way the USB powers devices. Just get a HDD casing.

u have the following options.

buy

an esata casing which will require extra power through usb port

an esatap casing if your laptop has esata powered port,wont require an extra usb connector

a direct esatap connector or esata connector

or you can buy a hdd caddy,plus two other cables- (i)usb to esata convertor for laptop that dont have esata II an esata+usb to laptop esata
