well there are tons of threads about lcd and plasma,in every forum in the world, to till this date its debated heavily.
the said PV8 is HD ready plasma,main reason it so popular is that for the price u can't get a decent lcd similar size lcd,since it is HD ready SD content like 480p,576p looks good,but if a signal such as 576i or 480i which tata sky+,big tv and some sun dth models output via compenent,the pv8 isn't as good as the above said lcds in displaying this 576i.
the pv8 has decent ANSI contrast better then lcds from panasonic,sharp,lg.but the newer lcds like the above said model from samsung and sony have higher contrast,they are FHD lcds with ur viewing distance when a FHD content is played u can notice the benifits of FHD .
regarding the colors of lcds/plasma it varies from people to people and is entirely subjective,some prefer the colors of samsung plasmas more then panasonic plasmas.but panasonics have better contrast.
some(majority going by the sales) simply prefer the crisp ,sharp 3d like image of lcds.
the future of flat panels for the next decade is OLED whose image quality resembles more like lcds rather then plasmas.i.e like the crisp image of lcds,except that the OLED has hell of a lot more contrast.
ultimately buy what ur eyes like the best.
