GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-P67A-UD7 (rev. 1.0)

Nope they too run a x8/x8 when both slots are populated. How can they run at x16/x16 when the chipset provides only max. 24 lanes :S

1.2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x16 (PCIEX16_1, PCIEX16_2)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16_1 slot; if you are installing two PCI Express graphics cards, it is recommended that you install them in the PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2 slots.
2.2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x8 (PCIEX8_1, PCIEX8_2)
* The PCIEX8_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16_1 slot and the PCIEX8_2 slot with PCIEX16_2. The PCIEX16_1/PCIEX16_2 slot will operate at up to x8 mode when the PCIEX8_1/PCIEX8_2 is populated.

3.1 x PCI Express x1 slot
(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
4.2 x PCI slots

Says who check the prices of the new Sandy-Bridge processors + motherboards @Delta - The Best in IT in INDIA + before shooting your opinion about not buying the Core i7 950 read some reviews SandyBridge Core i7 2600K review ~ I know we should not got on reviews but this is a fresh release and that is why we need to trust it. Add to that your post looks like an unedited text message does not help.

he's not going to sli now !

but future maybe !

and will the workstation graphics play games as well as the 580 and will it provide 3d ?

There is mostly no reason for you to SLi as most animation apps will not use it as a game engine does, so apart from a splurge it will have no effect except maybe higher electricity bills :bleh:

-- Workstation graphic card of this level Quadro <Fermi> 4000-series can easily play all games of current and next generation and supports 3D and has lower power consumption :) http://www.nvidia.co.in/object/quadro-fermi-overview-in.html

^ THANKS I LIKE THE MOBO ! :)

i7 950 is sure and overclock to 4-4.5ghz is sure too :)

plus the monitor you said is not gonna do 3d gaming right ?

so he needs the 3d kit too .

i was thinking an h70 for the cooling or can spend a little more for full water cooling !

please give suggestions :)

Core I7 950 15 K

Gigabyte X58A-UD5(VFM then UD7) for 14.5K (Absolute NO NO for UD3R and Sabertooth)

Only thing UD7 has more than UD5 is slightly better chipset cooling and option of water cooling the chipset but IMHO is useless as the waterblock doesnot contact the chipset directly.

Corsair H70 for 5.3K (I ran my system @4.0 stable in HAFX, ~72C on prime)

HAF X 12.5K(Including one extra 200mm fan)

Nvidia GTX580 for ~28.5k(can Run all games at 1920x1080 at max settings)

HDD get half dozen seagate 7200.12 in RAID10 or 5 and get better speeds then SSD along with redundancy as well as huge storage space.

6x500gb = 10.8k or 6x1TB = 16.8k

Dont cry abt electricity bills if u can afford a 1.5lakh gaming rig then 100 per month on electricity bills is not an issue

RAM entirely upto you

KEYBOARD Razer Black Widow(Mechanical if u can live with the click click sounds)

Monitor ur choice(depends on taste)3D???why do u want to game with glasses:bleh:

Further IMHO Sandy bridge is not an upgrade something like a makeshift/stopgap arrangement until ivy

What makes you think that the Gigabyte X58A UD3R is not upto the task?

The GTX 580 is a gaming card, the Quadro series is professional graphics how do you think that will make a difference in gaming. Have you used such a set-up?

What is the HAF - X offering apart from high bragging rights over the NZXT Tempest EVO?

Rest of your suggestions I can fit in the picture

@dark angel :

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD7 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard check this out ..

one more thing 16x*16x Vs 8x*8x is still debatable you aint gonna lose 10 to 15 frames if u rum them in 8x * 8x !! about 3 to 6 frams @ maxxxx!

well simply bcoz I have used it for a week.

The build quality sucked..

Next to pathetic chipset cooling(I hope u know the X58 chipset runs hot. So when one tries to OC it gets even hotter.)

There is a reason why Nvidia has two different card segments for gaming and 3D rendering. Thats because quadro sucks at games and Geforce is bad at rendering/detailing.

P.S I gave him a suggestion for a gaming card.

Rest of your suggestions I can fit in the picture

1) 2 Hot swappable bays(no need to open cabinet to connect friends HDD)

2) Huge space inside(Since its a Full Tower)

3) 2 x 200mm Fan on top(only one included have to buy the 2nd one)

4) 1x200mm side fan

5) 1x200mm front intake which also cools the HDDs.

Note: the 200mm fans are much quieter than any of the smaller fans but also move 50% more air then smaller fans.

@OP

the UPS I have i.e APC SUA2200UXI costs 22.5K

Battery cost was 31K(4 x 100Ah AMRON QUANTA)

Total ~55K considering cables etc

Now at abt ~1400watts load it runs for 3hrs(last when I checked)

My system load = 550 watts

TV(My room) = 200 watts

4 tubelights(House) = 200 watts

4 fans (House) = 400 watts

Against the 512 CUDA cores on the GTX 580 the 4000-series carries 256 cores that can run games better I've seen it with my eyes on a Dell Ultrasharp U2311H and it supports 3D out of box and animation is much better on Quadro or FirePro than a gaming series card so that is why I think OP should get a better deal with Quadro.

Plus the Quadro series is way more power efficient than the Geforce cards no need for the OP to buy anything above a Gold 80+ Certified 800W PSU including overclocking and water cooling overheads

The HAF-X is a capable cabinet, but the NZXT TEMPEST EVO is a steal and a very efficient cabinet ( you get pre-packaged 6 fans 4x 120mm and 2x 140mm, dust filters all over and plenty off space < E-ATX support on a mid tower > ). So that is why I think the OP instead of spending for gimmicks like hot-swappable bays ( how often do you carry an internal HDD in your bag )

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0), I think Gigabyte would've remedied it with version 2.0

and I think most TE users will support the fact that the ASUS SABERTOOTH X58 is great quality board. Asus Sabertooth X58 Review | bit-tech.net ASUS Sabertooth X58 Review » Page 18 - Conclusion - Overclockers Club
