Hey folks....
Just lost my beloved Sansa Fuze 4GB to motherboard water damage(I think). LCD and battery work fine. Dunno if it's repairable. Will probably sell it as parts.

So looking to upgrade to a Cowon D2+ or Cowon J3.
My main requirements- SQ, Memory expandability, Battery life and ease of use.
Probably the 16gb d2+ or the 4gb j3. Any other contenders in this price category?
Also are the issues of battery life in the J3 true?
Ps- I use a Nuforce NE700X iem.

Fiio X3 is soon to be launched, its a good cheap source. ( by looking at the spec sheet )

other than that if you can live with the bad UI and touch screen of Sflo:2 its a good choice.

the HM601 is a little off your budget , but still can be considered. :)

^The touch screen of S:Flo isnt that bad, its the UI that's the problem.

BTW I'd say rather then spending 10k, just get yourself another Fuze if you do not care for Video playback.

I do not know of that, people will say all kinds of things but one needs to see for oneself.

I don't know, this is my view. You needn't agree, specially on something like audio one needn't agree with anyone.

I'm a loving owner of Fuze since the last 1.5yrs and although its still the best option for the price (and gets better after RockBox-ing!) I'm getting pretty tired of its weak battery life. What use is FLAC playback, Crossfade, ReplayGain, EQ etc if it runs out of steam in under 15hrs? Even the new Fuze plus didn't bring any battery boost, and made it worse overall.
So If were to upgrade for 10k cash I'd look at Cowon products - the 55hrs audio playback seems like blisss! And then there's remarkable SQ Cowon's known for (the only competitor to Fuze and perhaps even better) and tons of features, easily outclassing Sansa.
Among Cowon players D2+ 4GB+32GB SD seems like a good buy and should be within your range, but its bulky and the UI suck. J3 and the other large screen players somehow feel like an overkill to me but not a bad choice. The just launched C2 seems to be a better D2 and if it's cheaper as well then you can wait for it.

I totally Agree With Mephistopheles, Audio tastes are Subjective, so are Genres, we might be able to point few Models but you need to try them and pick which you like best, HM601 (though you may need to shell out a lil more moolah) has a good SQ based on the reviews, Amarji or Anubhav will be able to shred more light on it,

Im a Sansa Fuze Fan myself, i like My Fuze over my Ipod nano, cos of the expandibility features and more options with rockbox and stuff, i havent used D2+ or J3 myself, and if you happen to travel sometime to bangalore , you can check the landmark music store in Forum mall they had a specific Audio Section and yes J3 was open to audition, im not sure about Trivandrum

Yea. I love the Fuze but the battery life is kind of a letdown.

I'd like more 3D effect on music. Does J3 give that experience ?

^Trust me, a new PMP wont give you a 3D effect or any effect for that matter unless it is difficult to drive.

I don't think your NE700X is difficult to drive.

If I were you I would stick with Fuze.

Also, you may try searching for any added benefits to NE700X with a better PMP and read what other people have to say and then make your decision.

Ok. One more question - Are spare parts for the Fuze available anywhere before I buy a new one? I'll be needing a mobo and switch, I think.

Well, gave an order for the Cowon J3 black. I could use the screen for watching sitcoms, movies and music vids. Plus I'll need the battery life for those monthly 10 hours journey.
