Well I need to buy 4GB RAM it should be 800mhz and should be capable of ocing to 1000mhz . Im using G31ms2l mobo and e6400 processor oced to 3ghz . The mobo doesn't support 1066mhz stock speed ram so I need ones that will boot with 800mhz and then Ill oc to 1000mhz . Please suggest nice ram . It should be able to do 1000mhz @ cl5 . Also budget is 5k . I searched for Piblack 4GB on the net but turns out to be too expensive thru Kmd and its not available here D: .

How abut these? I have the same. They do 1066 CL5 PL7 @ 2.0v but cost Rs.5600

G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI.

Or you could get 2 pair of these, will cost you Rs.4800. But 4x1GB will limit your OC potential.

G.Skill - F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK

Also PrimeABGB doesn't provide any after sales for gskill, So no replacement in India even if you buy them from here, RMA from US or taiwan.

I dont know about SMC though, they might be doing RMA here but I doubt it. Also SMC only keeps DDR3, no DDR2

AFAIK PrimeABGB and SMC(Acro) might be the only 2 importers of G.Skill in india.

So try your luck with KMD or fizzmall or ebay.com

Also your board should do 1066 w/o any issue, why are so bent upon buying a 800 kit and then OC'ing it, when it isnt available?

My mobo specs say 667/800/1066(O.C) means that my mobo will support 1066mhz only if I oc 800mhz ram to 1066mhz . If I buy stock 1066mhz ram my pc wont boot .

No, when you will OC your ram to 1066 in bios, your system will boot up in 1066 and not 800.

However there is a new feature in MSI boards which boots one's system in stock values and overclocks as windows loads, but I doubt this feature is there on your board.

Hmmm I just need 1066mhz ram that will boot at 800mhz if my pc cant start with 1066 or i want 800mhz ram that will oc to 1000mhz . :p The only thing is 5k budget D: .

Well reading this..something weird happens on my board. It takes three goes to start. Boots for 2 seconds, shuts down, boots for 3 seconds, shuts down, then 3rd time it boots up fine. 1st two times..no display...you have a similiar OC'ed board.

Same happen to you. Does it each time boot right the first time..?

This happens with me when my oc isn't stable. It tries to boot but keeps on restarting, and after doing this 3 times, boots up on 4th attempt showing an error "OC unsuccesful, press key X to revert to default values".

However if you dont get this error and your OC is stable, then your board is double posting.
Does it happen everytime you start or restart your system or only on cold boots?

My board also double posts, but only on a cold boot and only once and not twice like yours.
A bios upgrade might solve this, or search on MSI forums and see if others are also facing a similar issue.
MSI makes awesome boards but their bios are pretty crappy and it makes a lot of difference on their overclockability, I tried 6 different bios and finally settled with v3.2, others wont let me even post above 450FSB

No guys I haven't tested my mobo with 1066mhz stock ram till now :P . I can't spend money just to test na :/ . Thats why I'm buying 800mhz ram to be on the safe side . Also when my OC is unstable my screen goes black after first restart , then the pc automatically switches off and starts at stock speeds . When its stable then the pc just restarts after I exit the bios .

Well my OC is stable, it passes all the stress tests.

When it double posts, I never get that error -- about OC fail. It just takes 3 goes to boot properly. I am on the latest BIOS as per the official MSI site. This usually happens, when I switch off/total kill power to the system. If I just shut down, and leave the UPS on, it starts normally again.

So after the double posts, it successfuuly boots, reaches the desktop, and my OC is still there.

^Ok then its surely double posting on a cold boot (after killing the power completely).

There is nothing much you can do about it, there might be a beta bios out for your board, look it up and give that a shot or just live with the issue.

Just get the 1066Mhz RAM. If it doesn't boot for whatever reason, you can manually set the RAM speed to 800. I have the same motherboard, you shoudn't have any issues.

^you have same mobo .. cool so which ram are you using ? And also if i use 1066mhz and my pc doesnt boot ... doesnt it mean that i wont be seeing the starting screen where we enter the bios by pressing delete ? Which ram you using :D ?

I guess if it is 1066Mhz out of the box ram, then it will not boot. You will need to force your way to the BIOS make changes. If 1066 is EPP, then it should boot using JEDEC#1 or JEDEC#2.

The price for 800mhz pi black is 93$ on new egg .. but getting thru KMD makes it 5800 bucks which is too much lol . I'll ask prime and see .

lol... dont buy from prime.. use rma service.. :)

i have just given them my piblack for RMA which was sold to supra..

now as the 800mhz ones are not available, they are asking for 2200/- additional to upgrade it to 1066mhz kit..

LOSS...

AS i have already refunded supra.. will be waiting till they get the 800 mhz ones back.. as giving 2200/- additional is like giving additional price of a 2 gb stick..

Go to Taiwan and get it.. but dont take from Prime..
