I want the lo down on everything audio/video in relation to codecs, compression and standards, encoding etc like avi, mpeg, divx, containers, mp3, mp4, layers etc etc...

For anything related to Divx, mpeg-4 I use the Divx Digest. It has more than enough tutorials for everything.
