I aint a pro in Rock etc. But I have heard a few songs. I daresay that Deep Purple - Smoke On Water has some awesome guitarwork:bleh: Dunno if it matches what you want though.
 
there are so many top 100 guitar lists..just check them out.

As for riffs, tony iommi from sabbath, richards from rolling stones etc created some of the best ones.

opeth - windowpane,harvest,benighted,isolation years..

dream theater - pull me under, under the glass moon, peruvian sky, sacrificed sons, fatal tragedy..

Joe satriani - power cosmic, flying in a blue dream, engines of creation etc.

steve vai - the riddle, for the love of god etc.

tool - the pot, rosetta stoned.....

for albums i would say sieben,Sunder ohne Zugel,Mein rasend Herz ...
for specific songs kuss mich,ave maria,liam,mein kind,die gier etc .. heck i don't remember so many German words :P .. get the albums man ..you won't be dissatisfied :hap2:
 
^^ i have that collection too..and then theres the top 500 rock n roll songs, which have some pretty good guitar in them :D
 
Is "In Extremo" anything like "The Corrs"? :ashamed: I really love their bagpipes and violins; and when the drums kick in...its heavenly :D

Edit: A search on amazon suggested Corvus Corax. Anyone heard them?
