Hello,

I have a Built-in Intel Azalia High Definition Surround 3D sound system w/SRS WOW support 7.1 Channel Output, S/PDIF Digital Output on my laptop.
Suggest me a very good quality 5.1 system or a 7.1(is that worth it???) which can take full advantage of my s/pdif digital output (its similar port as normal headphone jack) Budget 10-15k and the speakers should look amazing.
If i had to choose between sound clarity and 7.1 i will go with good sound and 5.1

Model number along with price would be better

So any opinions???

the best if ur lappy has a SPDIF out (in ur case u do... get it .. u`ll regret if u wont :P )

yp my laptop has a spdif output but the pin out is exactly same as the headphone jack. Will that do??

g51 for gaming @ 7-8k+Xonar Dx 4.4k

abbe read the original post or atleast the thread title before commenting!!!:@

Xonar DX sir mein lagaayega woh?

@OP: buy a X-Fi USB soundcard and then plug in Logitech X-540 to it.... FTW

so how can i possibly connect the z5500 to my laptop which has a 3.5mm spdif pin (similar to the 3.5mm audio pin used for headphones) to a rca connector

where can i possibly get the converter and how will it effect my sound quality???

what is considered a good price for these z5500?? they look really promising

only problem right now is that i need a proper converter to be able to use the speakers ideally a 3.5mm pin to mono coaxial converter (if i got it right :D)

suggestions on converter without degradation of quality and the possible price plss....

Buy this... u will get a HUGE Increment in Sound Quality. (Totally worth it)

Logitech Z5500 for a Laptop is OVERKILL (They cost 18k)
Stick to Logitech X-540 (Costs 5.4k)

logitech z5500 is no overkill man...
its all abt usability... just imagine if the OP is using his laptop to project the screen on a bigger LCD display or a Projector ... there will be nothin like z5500 then...

If the laptop has an SPDIF output, why would connecting a Z5500 mean an overkill? It would obviously improve the SQ compared to, when the speakers are connected thru the normal headphone-out jack.

Please refrain from posting non-sense all across IYDM? Been noticing this for a while. :|

@racoon: Is the SPDIF out an optical or a coaxial? Check if there's a glow (red possibly?) from the inside of the 3.5mm jack. For eg. The Xonar DX comes with the optical spdif out thru the 3.5mm jack (A 3.5mm-to.optical out plastic connector is bundled with the Xonar DX package thus!).

Like this one:

If not its a coaxial out. You'll need a 3.5mm-to-Coaxial converter.

i think its a coaxial one as there is no red glow but ill confirm with my vendor first and let u know.

where would i get the converter and 18k is it pretty high. I dont want the sound quality to disappoint me later on. If the sound quality is top notch then i would mind the price!

pls keep posting your opinion ......
