Video Suggestion Needed for a 55" 4K UHD LED TV

Hello Folks,

My VU 55" 4K UHD LED TV died last month (on Christmas Eve!) sadly after 8 years of solid service . Was watching a show on it and suddenly a black curtain like image ever so slowly veiled the screen and then it was gone, just like that! Now all I get is purple and green bars across the screen when I turn it on. Guess the panel is toast and I don't want to replace it because it simple isn't worth it. What a heart breaker!

So, now I need a new 55" 4K UHD TV. Usage is primarily for: Connecting to my Laptop via HDMI and watching movies and shows and also LIVE streaming Cricket and Tennis. Oh and for occasional cable TV via Hathway HD set-top box.

My budget is around 35k.

Kindly suggest what I can go for. With the Amazon Great Republic Day Sale coming up I plan on buying it so links from Amazon would be very much appreciated.

Thanks :)

I think the new Acer super series one looks good and has also been reviewed by digit, currently at 43k but did previously sell at 36k. Looks like the panel is good but don't know much about the after sales service.

You can also go for the LG UR7500PSC, but you don't have control over you getting a VA or IPS panel both of which have drastic differences in terms of contrast ratio. Otherwise it is a good option as well.

Thank-you good folks for all the replies and links above, appreciate it!

I'm thinking of picking up a 55" Hisense:

Hisense 139 cm (55 inches) E6N Series 4K Ultra HD Smart LED Google TV 55E6N (Black)

I'm not really too bothered about the audio quality of the TV speakers because I will be attaching an Edifier R1700 with it for audio output.

About TCL panels: I'm reading a lot of negative reviews on Amazon on their 55" models... are those fake reviews?

If you can up your budget a little, with the right cards/offers, base line true HDR capability would be within reach with models like Toshiba M650MP and Hisense Q7N. I'd say don't miss out if the price difference seems reasonable enough.

TCL panels sold in India are low-grade crap compared to the US.

Most TCL & Hisense panels are crap in India unless you go for specific models which are the near equivalent present in other countries too: Ex: TCL C755 in india is c805/c805k in Europe and Hisense u7n and u7k have vidaa os in India and Europe but google in tv in the states.
If you want brand reliability within that 35k budget then will have to compromise on the size: https://www.desidime.com/deals/sony...0b-black-86a80d7b-3e66-495a-987d-c793eeb13777
I would suggest increasing your budget a bit and going for something with miniled and FALD display. If you can't then I would suggest u6k https://www.jiomart.com/p/electroni...qled-google-led-tv-55u6k-2023-model/603457212

@m0h1t and @Grease Monk have both Hisense and TCL tv and should be able to help you out.

@rockyo27 @Black_Hawk - how's VU after sales services? I am also buying a tv this sale and considering - VU Masterpiece Frame which comes with 3 yr warranty if purchased offline.

@k_m_Arya How about TCL C835? It is 2022 model and have reviews from HDTVtest as well @PunkX 75

@edept Toshiba m650mp has been out of stock online and finding Toshiba tv offline is a big challenge otherwise at 40k price this one seems a solid option.

when i was looking for new tv last year i read quite a lot (mostly good things) about the tcl c755 (c805) and wanted desperately to demo it in some showroom but alas, none had it. saw a couple of reviews of it online (one of them was by a spanish youtuber iirc). see if you can find a demo-unit now at any outlet.

Do you really need a 120 or 144Hz panel? You never mentioned gaming. Also, unless your room is very bright, 800nits is not very useful (i doubt that's full screen brightness, say a white image on the entire screen). My 27" monitor has 350nits of brightness & I never use it at anywhere close to its full brightness.

I will not recommend a 50k Vu or Hisense 55" TV unless you plan to play game on it (preferably on a powerful PC). Hisense option has FALD as well, thus better HDR although it's just 32 zones with Q7N.

IMO no brand has good after-sales in India, even major brands (I had issues with Sony 15 years back and Panasonic like 5 years back). Vu's after sales will be worse than LG or Samsung. My recommendation will still be to get Vu or Hisense under 35k else LG or Samsung near 40k.
