Forum Feedback Suggestion: New sub forums

I think considering the expanding demographic of smartphone users, dont you think it's time to great sub forums for Android, iOS, WP8 and others?

I'm not sure if they should be software centric or should include hardware as well.

It would make it easier for members and non members to search the forum and may even help with google searches.

What do you think?
 
It will not help with Google search but if it helps with arranging content and makes life easier for members then why not. Lets see what others think about it.
 
With more and more mobile OSes being introduced yes different sub forums is a good idea for smartphones. But then what happens for talks on dumb phones or phones with not so popular OSes ? May be an "Others" subforum ?

Whichever way works for clear differentiation.
The older or very less used OS' can come under other.

Users are much more lazy than you think. They don't even put proper titles nowadays :\
Sub forum would be easier to implement than tags.

Well then I urge all members to reports threads which do not have a proper thread title. Staff members always change thread titles when they notice it. :jimlad:

But wouldn't it be better to try and reduce mod intervention for such things?

I don't see the awareness in users. Especially the new ones who have joined over the past year or two.

Better to made a rule for tags, dont you think

I don't see how that would help since TE is a tech forum and not an automotive one.

We already have a dedicated sun forum for meets, why a sticky?
 
I meant that I understand that the mods have to make sure the rules are adhered to and the forum is legible, but shouldn't the latter part be taken care by users proactively?
I mean we are humans and have brains too. Something as simple as that is a given for all users.
 
Regardless of how we do it, I agree that to keep in line with the changing environment there should be an expansion of the mobile phone forum.

Besides the OS what other ways can we do it? Lets look at the options and then choose the best way out.
 
According to be it should be either of the following,

iOS | Android | WP8 | Others

OR

Apple | Samsung | Google | Nokia | HTC | Blackberry | Others

I don't see any other logical division.
I guess you could gather a few ideas and put it to vote if you wish


OT:
How about thinking about the following too,

Audio Zone should have sub forums as IEM, Headphones, Speaker Systems, Others. Interest in these areas seem to be rising

AutoZone can be split into basic sub forums like Cars, Bikes, Accessories
