Laptops Suggestions: Basic Laptop configurations

Read this on Refubrished laptops. But they are a bargain for < 500$

Those are Pentium 4 based models selling for $500 with a 6-month warranty. and since they are remanufactured, chances are u wont get the advertised 3 hour battery back up. Usually batteries deteriorate in about a year or year n half's time.

Moreover, there are Celeron-M (with 1MB cache n Intel Speed Step disabled) based lapotops available for as low as 25k and come with 1yr warranty n brand new battery as well, making them a much better VFM option. ;)

Would not a Pentium 4 based laptop have better performance that Celeron-M ??

Pentium 4 would decrease the battery life though.

^ Most likely no! The Celeron M's pack a real mean punch and are very close to the Pentium M's (unlike the Desktop Celerons). Needless to say the Pentium M's are in a league of their own. I'm not sure of the exact comparison in terms of clock speeds (as in an x-Mhz Celeron M would outgun a y-Mhz Pentium 4)

The Pentium 4 in contrast would raise up heat levels quite a notch and drop down battery levels just as much.
