Yes,

so me and dad went through some digicams. The initial budget was set at Rs.10,000.

Pondered on this offer on JJMEHTA.com

Canon A570IS with 2GB Card, NiMH Battery & Charger & Pouch : Rs. 13500

Found this offer really excellent. So mind is now set on it....
Want to know if any users of the same exist out here...

Please give me your suggestions and yes the above price is with 2 yrs CANON warranty..

Always been a fan of the S3/S5 but can't get it cause this will be a all family-cam , everyone at home will use it at various occasions and gatherings. So want something light and handy and nice and gripy.

Please fed in your suggestions. TIA :)

Edit Post : The same on sify features with 1 GB card and 1 yr vendor warranty for Rs. 11,200 so the jjmehta buy seems a pick ?

A very good VFM camera. when I had gone to singapore I had bought 2 of these for my friends as it really rocks for the price it sells. It has got all the new features you can expect in new generation camera...Image Stabilization...Face detection....High ISO sensitivity for good night photography........

Its compact( not very compact compared to the ultra portables) and has got a big screen(2.5'). battery life is good with average 350 shots (arnd 200 snaps with flash ) with a 2700mah sanyo battery. The video recording had 16 min limit when recorded at 640x480 resolution and 32 min at 320x240. Also you cannot use optical zoom while recording(only digital zoom)

I small feature that may put you off is that the display is not that sharp( it looks dim and blurred) When i took some snaps initially the photos looked very dull and somewhat out of focus, but when I checked in computer it was really rich in colour and very sharp...so u can realize how dull the screen is....and also its hardly visible under sunlight. Apart from this minor glitch its a very good cam and bang for the buck. BTW i got it for 8.2k with 2gig card and battery/charger so you many reconsider if the price seems too high here in india.

Sify offers dealer warranty I think unless specified...its like buying in grey market

Thank u v. much for the info. I did a bit of reviewing here and there......Well for 8.2k its an awsome buy...Cousin is coming from Singapore in 1st week december :) so i can hang on if im finalising on this...I dont mind the video record limit cause main use will be snapping images .....main thing im concerned abt is "warranty" issues.....did u buy / get international warranty when u got it from singapore...or can u buy it along with it.......these days u never know when these 'e' thingies go kaput and then u are stranded.....please let me know.......(repped)

Canon does not give international warranty AFAIK. Check with Canon India first if they will honor it.

Besides that, great cam. had a friend coming over from the US recently n he brought over 3 of these for me n some friends. :ohyeah:

6.5k each from Amazon. + 1k for 2Gb card(local) + 1k batts (local)

Well ....its a new day and ended up on a new deal....

Ended up buying the IXUS 70......!...

there were 2 deals over the desk....

Deal 1 )
IXUS 70 Camera
1 Battery Pack (Default )+ 1 Extra Battery Pack
2 GB Memory
Tripod
Carry Case
Charger
+ International Warranty

$425 Sg. All Inclusive.

Deal 2 )
IXUS 70 Camera
1 Battery Pack (Default )
2 GB Memory
Carry Case
Charger

$325 Sg. All Inclusive.

Took the Deal 1 :)....

If people wonder why the shift from the A570IS to the IXUS 70
1) The Lithion Ion Battery Pack , which doesn't drain in standby + long no use period.
2) In regions where its difficult to even get power to charge the Ion batts will help out holding the power.
3) Slimmer and pocket fitting.

So, this will be a plus on my loooong ride sessions where I wont get power plugs in forests and hills and I dont need to carry batteries around :)

If people wonder why the IXUS 70 and not the IXUS 75

1) No, matter how small the viewfinder is - its always an added bonus. Need it definately.
2) All features same in IXUS 70 and 75 except the viewfinder and the 0.5" screen difference.
3) LCD can be turned off in emerygency cases to save battery :)

- Just my views......Reviews and Pics coming up in December 1st week.

So , what do you people think about the deal ?

No offense but i think you cud have done better. 2 reasons :

1. Li -ion may hold charge for longer but they ll go down after use eventually :P Then ur done. With AAs, u can always buy a pair of Duras or even something basic n get by even if no access to power to charge those rechargables :P thats the reason i avoid the Li-ion ones. + those batts cost a bomb in case u need to replace in say 2 yrs + availability then ;)

2. IS IS IS ..need i say more? :P

Yep , I understand but then -

1) I consulted my cousin who uses everything from a AA cam to a Li-On battery. He goes on treks and stuff often and the last time he went in no-mans land (himalayas) with no power he survived his digicam on 3 Li-ion. However , I completely understand the fact of the Duras, as u mentioned no need to wait and stuff , I guess the spare Li-on will cone handy will always keep it fully charged while I let the other one rest in the charger and charge , however as u mentioned without a power source i would be helpless.....need to do something to get them charged off my bike battery then like the cellphone chargers :ohyeah:

2) I had a hands on the Sony S series which needs no IS and I realised IS is 'mostly' usefull in situations of full zoomed images. I did have to compromise the IS factor. Buying the IXUS 850 was completely out of budget.

Availability of battery 'might' become an issue , however it might not be the case in the US of A and Singapuru :ohyeah: I always have someone coming or going at these locations regularly.
