I just finished The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

I will be going to Pune this week, and the Landmark Sale is on there. Discounts on books and games will ensure that I will return with lighter pockets and heavy bags! :ohyeah:

I recently read the following books -
The Advocate by John Grisham
Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer.

Friends, please suggest some books that I can pick up. While you are at it, could you also mention a one or two liner brief about the book

I will definitely be picking up some graphic novels. Suggest any book except self help books (just can't stand 'em):)

Thanks and Regards

Try Matthew Reilly's books. He is the Michael Bay's version in the book world. Short on plot, but awesome explosions and fights. You can literally see the action pieces unfold before your eyes. Would suggest you to start with "Temple" by him.

Also Stephen Baxter's Evolution [Hard Sci-Fi], any book by Bill Bryson [Mostly Travelogues].

+ 1 microsoft lolz dont worry b happy heheh well seriously its worth a read, how to make friends and influence people by dale carnegie another bestseller. what do y like to read? is it the dan browns, jeffery archers only or u open to others as well??

You like Mat Reilly too?? OMG! He's awesome! I am eagerly waiting for his Five Greatest Warriors, which is due for release on 20th October in Australia. I hope it comes to India soon!! :)

Oh and I have already read most of Bill Bryson. Pretty informative.

Hmmm....Stephen Baxter you say? I heard about his books from someone else too. I'll try him out then. :)

I was heading the book section in Landmark, Chennai for 3 years [Imagine the perks :ohyeah:] I discovered Mat's books then. Also do try James Herbert's Horror writings.

On the Sci-Fi side "Lord of the Light" by Roger Zelazni. Imagine the Hindu Pantheon against Lord Buddha in a Sci-Fi setting.

If you like comic fantasy, try the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

I will definitely be getting some graphic novels, but the exact ones will be decided on impulse :) Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks. I've already read all the 12 books so far. Eagerly waiting for the Way of Light, the last and final book in the series. I believe the last book is so big, that they are going to release it in three installments, with the first one due for release in Q1 2010. Lets hope theyr live up to the hype!

@microsoft
Living up to the name I see. Giving useless suggestions when they are not required.

sticking to page turner thrillers:

Sidney Sheldon - if tomorrow comes
Robert Ludlum - holcroft covenant, bourne series
John Grisham - partner, pelican brief, broker
Arthur Hailey - dectective
James Patterson - jack & jill (if you like twists)
Jeffrey Archer - 11th commandment
Robin Cook - mortal fear
David Baldacci - the winner, absolute power
Nelson DeMille - cathedral
Frederick Forsyth - The Devil's Alternative, The Negotiator, The Icon, The Afghan, The Fourth Protocol
Mario Puzo - sicillian, god father
Matthew Reilly - ice station
Jack Higgins - eagle has landed

try books by these authors - lee child and vince flynn

fantastic, both of them

also jeffrey archers sons of fortune and a quiver full of arrows.
