Isn't buying an lcd from the grey market a bit risky?? Also if i am not wrong, W4500 is an 8 bit panel. Sony KDL-46Z4500 seems to be a good tv but it's gonna cost a bomb when released.
no it has a 10bit panel V,W,Z,X series 40inch and above have 10bit panel.only the 32inch version of W,V series have 8 bit panel.
well at a bargain price in gray market does come the risk, but sony just gives a years warranty, and even if something goes wrong in lcds it will be the electronics ,in lcds they just change the entire board ,there 3 boards in a typical lcd,and each board may cost about 4k to 8k depending on the board, said by a sony service center technician, except some sony X series which have a complex RGB LED backlight requiring additional expensive circuitry. now a grey market prices are around 20% to 30% cheaper and even cheaper for bigger size tvs so for a 40inch tv priced at 1.1 lakh can be bought in grey for about 85 to 89k.so thats a huge difference.
the sony Z series 40inch when launched in india would be priced around MRP1.3lakh.
