Yes this it, work 5 days a week and Sat/Sun are the only times I can spend with my kid hence sorry for not responding after creating the post. I think 10 years back my eyes would have popped out after reading that but now after having a kid, the thought that how would someone explain to their kid that article or "beer-flavoured ...
There goes my TOI subscription

I usually prefer The Hindu, but out in mumbai, we dont get it.
^^ We do get The Hindu in Mumbai. I get it at my place. The only problem is that I get the Chennai Edition and yesterday's issue today! :ashamed:

But I don't mind it as I feel that it is the best newspaper for UPSC aspirants... Nothing else will do!! :P

i have stopped TOI as well. i use to like that news paper but in last few months i can see price is going up and pictures of half nude girls are going up as well.

i still don't get what the fuzz is about

I think its about a self proclaimed tabloid fast turning into a pron journal in a lame attempt to increase readership.
Its similar to those home made sex surveys that India Today keeps on dishing out every now and then, portraying them as actually been carried out.

If you guys think this is bad, trying installing TOI app on smartphones. Its full of this shit ....

HT subscriber here.

ToI is a pos, no other way to put it. Seriously, what has gone wrong with the media? On the idiot box, one can't even watching the bull that the Hindi news channels show while at IBN7 (that's the English one, right?) the newscasters can't stop giving their own opinions on everything and 24x7 is all mushy-mushy about everything and too effeminate to take a stance on anything (the documentaries they show on Sunday are awesome though).

Those articles are just lame attempts to increase circulation, just like the Mid-Day mate. But I don't see anything offensive about them.

That said, as a former journalist I find TOI articles appalling in their quality. Apart from the sensationalist factually incorrect nonsense that passes for news , the articles are filled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

I'm sticking with my Indian Express thank you. The Telegraph and Hindu are excellent papers too but I don't get them in Mumbai. I do read the online version of the Hindu though.

Switched to Hindu a couple of months ago and am a happy customer.I look for news and papers like Hindu , Deccan Herald and Indian Express are just what we want. Anyone who wants fluff and newspapers full of big ads and unimportant new may stick to TOI.

I feel that The Telegraph has gone down the drain. Too many ads. Very little content.
If you like gossip and movie reviews then T2 (supplement of Telegraph) is very good.

ToI has lots of news compared to The Telegraph. But since everyone is saying it is bad, most probably will give it a miss and start reading The Indian Express or The Hindu online.
Is there anything better?

After all these years, i have finally stopped ToI and got HT started at my place recently.

Only thing i miss is the presentation of the ToI paper. HT's paper looks bland regarding the layout.
Stopped DNA and TOI from last 3 years. Mornings are more pleasant rather than reading bull shit news every morning.
I keep myself informed from news feeds and watch news in evening for few minutes if time permits.

TOI online is even worse.... Its like some B grade magazine. All headlines are provoking and only for seeking eyeballs rather than publishing actual news.
TOI repeats same article 2-3 times in a single edition with some articles having some paragraphs repeated in the top and again somewhere in middle or bottom of the articles as if they were paid by no of words. IDIOTS.

Again WHY are we bumping 3 year old threads....???

TOI's site is as horrendous as it can be. Looks like fit for some sleazy movie's promo site.

I had read here few yrs back, that TOI is that paper which accompanies Delhi Times. The description seems to hit the bull's eye in today's times more than ever before.
