Hi All,

Could you advise a mobile phone keeping in mind the following points

- Design: candy bar / slimmest design available
- Price: under 6k
- Brand: Preferably a Nokia/Sony Ericsson/Samsung. (No moto's please)
- Features: MP3 player (must), memory card option (minimum 1 GB) (must), Stereo FM Radio, Camera - doesn't matter, blue tooth, 16m colors (if available), light weight
- Decent battery backup
- VFM

This will be a surprise gift for my wife for our first marriage anniversary. She has been waiting to get one for herself for a long time.

So guys make this a special one for me.:)

Thanks - Sunil

+1 for Samsung Corby

BTW, Fly has launched their new set of dual sim phones and one of them which is very impressive is MC160, at 5.5k. Touch screen, dual sim and 3 mp cam. Think about it, I think dual sim is a must have feature for all phones atleast from now on. It's high time big brands like Nokia start producing dual sim phones.

how much is it available for?

Corby is around 7.8k. However, it seriously looks like a child's toy. If you really are going to spend for the Corby, just spend another 700-800 rupees and get the Samsung Star which looks much more professional and has a bigger and better screen, accelerometer, better speakers, support for 16GB microSDs and a better camera with better response times. Around 8.5K and your wife will love you for the Star.

In non-touchscreen phones, I think the 5310XM with a large microSD would be the best bet.

Samsung Marine is too thick, and looks macho. Not a ladies phone. ;)
I recently got Samsung Star for 7.5K (preferred it over Corby), and
am loving it.

I can see the advantage if you have 2#s or even with different providers.

Good for a business person but why would the avg person want 2#s ?

-1000 to fly. That phone would be more in service center than your pocket . Never gift this phone to anybody even if the person is your enemy.

I use a china dual sim phone :ashamed: with one sim my primary number from BPL and the other from Tata docomo. I am saving lots of money on calls because to call most of my friends on BPL it's only 10p/min and for other calls I can use Docomo for 1p/sec. :hap2: So this in a way makes it very cheap and my monthly mobile expenses have reduced very much. Hence I feel being able to use 2 sims from different operators with different tariff plans is a wonderful feature that most phones should have. :cool2:

Lol, is Fly that bad? Heard it's a European company, it's not a china phone. Also, NDTV cell guru rated this phone 9.2 in last week's episode so I suggested this to the OP.

Very poor. My sister bought a fly sx210. Became unresponsive within 6 months. Was with service center for a total of 10 months only to work for 2 weeks. It is now nothing but piece of junk working as paper weight. From the pc sync software and UI it looks as a rebranded chinese phone with am imei no. The service is handled by accel frontline all they say is the company does not have enough spares. We had to give an email to fly saying will go to consumer court if we do not get our piece repaired.

But why still hold onto the tata # ???

Isn't BPL the better choice.

Bpl rocking in college 10p to gang member to 10 ppl and 10p sms 30p bpl2bpl and other 50p its really chip if u like 2 talk alot with ur mates.
:hap2::ohyeah:

BPL costs more for other local calls compared to Tata docomo because of Tata's per second billing. STD is way cheaper in Docomo, it's just 1p/sec, but in BPL for my plan it's Rs 1.5/min ;) I use a lot of STD as well.

If I opt for per second pulse in BPL, I'll lose all the benefits of 10p/min that I currently have with my 10 BPL friends. So now I can enjoy the benefits of both using dual sim, just use the right sim to make the right call. :hap2:

But again, not everyone wants these kind of features. But it would be good if brands like Nokia too start producing dual sims.
